Well, I’m still here and halfway through an aggressive R-CHOP chemotherapy regime which really has fatigued me a lot. Still, I’ve managed to stay out of hospital, avoiding infections. I had 2 stays in hospital during February and March and, as kind as they are, it’s much better at home.
I’m doing well – I just have no energy; walking even short distances tires me out. This past week I tried out online grocery shopping for the first time as I was having difficulty getting to the shops. I was pleasantly surprised, not one item was missing and the price was fair.
My hair hasn’t fallen out yet but it seems to have stopped growing and I need shave only every 6 days or so. I’m sleeping well, too well at times. Just today I got 7 hours, getting up at 9. Then at noon I went back to bed for a siesta and slept right through til 7pm! I’ve learned to listen to my body, though, if I need to sleep then I will.
I’ve had a quiet period since my last chemo session but in early May I’ll be quite busy again – more chemo, an MRI scan, a CT scan then another meeting with my consultant haemotologist. There’s also a 24 hour number I can call if I become ill meanwhile and my complete medical record is uploaded and available for any health professional to view. That is quite reassuring.
I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts – I like Morf’s and there are half a dozen other true-crime ones I enjoy, as well as some on technology and other subjects. Not been reading as much as at times it’s hard to concentrate but I persist.
