Hi everyone,

(Not sure if I’m posting in the right section)

A French cold case has just been resolved, called the “Le Grêlé” case (“Pockmarked-faced killer”). Identified a couple of days ago, François Vérove, a retired gendarme and policeman, raped or raped and killed several teenage girls and two adults in Paris and its region between the mid-80s and the mid-90s. Despite a composite picture described as very faithful by key witnesses and surviving victims, and the police having his DNA profile, Le Grêlé’s identity remained a mystery for 35 years.

Described as having a pockmarked face by witnesses, Le Grêlé used a Gendarmerie card on several occasions to control his victims, which eventually led to his identification. As a matter of fact, French police decided  to summon and interview “batches” of former gendarmes and policemen whose ages and former places of living corresponded with Le Grêlé’s crimes.

As a retired motorcycle gendarme and policeman, François Vérove was summoned last week but never showed up at the police station. Instead, he wrote a letter explaining that he was indeed the killer called Le Grêlé and that he regretted his crimes, then committed suicide.

He was a father and a grand-father who also served as a city councillor for years. His relatives have declared they are shocked by this announcement.

The investigation continues in order to check if he may have committed other unsolved crimes.

Interesting to see another member of law enforcement doubling as a serial killer! Maybe Zodiac was a cop too.

Zodiac as a cop has been anathema since I started getting more into this since 2019.

If you are looking to see some experts people fly off the handle at your POI then that’s the one that will do it.

Despite it actually polling quite well for the Zodiac.

Right now I am in the phase of documenting the cognitive dissonance reactions to Zodiac having an LE background. There needs to be an explanation for why someone with so much evidence out there against them, with his face been seen, gets away with it for half a century.

I don’t believe in all luck ascribed to him anymore. I think he made his own luck with inside knowledge. Very brazen.

Le Grele got away with it for 35 years. A French detective seems to have figured out the badge he was seen flashing probably wasn’t a hoax. The cuffs maybe a clue as well as forensic awareness… 35 years later.

You should see some of the explanations coming up for why Zodiac probably isn’t a cop are almost totally driven by probability claims and that anybody can do what the Zodiac did. It is bizarre because if a guy walked into a bank with a ski-mask on and someone saw boots with paint on them and smelled of methylated spirits we would hardly say, oh anyone can fake being a painter, let’s skip that and look at chocolate makers instead. I think the Zodiac knows his power of concealment lies in the cognitive dissonance that Zodiac could be a cop.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he flashed a badge and went looking for himself at the Presidio, paid a visit to Vallejo and Napa sheriff’s departments right after the crime offering his services or would attend various crime briefings about the Zodiac among professional circles. Might even have written down the score of some round of a bowling competition he had with them. Probably hung his weapons up in the locker room and had a good chuckle to himself.

I think the arrest of Joseph DeAngelo in the GSK case opened up some minds, though. But I’m amazed at all the work you’ve done on the Zodiac case. Honestly, if this case gets resolved one day and we realize Z had zero interest in golf, my mind would be blown away! Great work!

I think the arrest of Joseph DeAngelo in the GSK case opened up some minds, though. But I’m amazed at all the work you’ve done on the Zodiac case. Honestly, if this case gets resolved one day and we realize Z had zero interest in golf, my mind would be blown away! Great work!

When GSK turned out to be a cop, one of things I did was look at all the posts stating why he couldn’t be a cop. I noticed a lot of the same neigh-saying appeared to have cropped up with Zodiac research. I was quite stunned that no one was really going back over things again with this in mind for the Zodiac and was quite surprised by the lack of Zodiac researchers following the GSK case. Morf and a few others I remember, so anyway that gave a huge advantage to anyone, even new, to go back over the lot again with this in mind and that is exactly what I did. Another crowd decided Zodiac was JJD. They were on the right track but of course JJD isn’t because there is a ton of stuff pointing away from him.

I also noticed that despite extensive threads looking at the Tim Holt comics, nobody had seen that in Spring of 2019 there was another upload and scan of comics they wanted to look at. There it was, stuff standing out just following the same line of reasoning Tahoe27 used. I forgot about the cop stuff by then, sidelined it and just dug into the names and histories to see if Zodiac had really given his name. When I saw a guy with the name nickname Bones and then the picture of his brother, the prison job, locations, it just added up. I didn’t know they were trained reserve officers. It seems some Zodiac experts got that before me, kept it to themselves, and went ape at me without divulging what it was that had made them suddenly reverse interest. BTW, there is even a bad Sheriff in very Tim Holt pages I reference and yet I didn’t really give it much notice at the time.

Months later I found the cop connection they had already hit on and then it all came together. It had huge explanatory power. Even motive when I followed the Vallejo fight incident and how the Zodiac papers had insulted them. So I’m pretty confident that this is it because re-reading Zodiac helped note the red-herrings trying to point away from a cop and the potential for clues to actually parallel with the POIs. If there was stuff pointing away from them, then fine. So far, there isn’t. Just people who don’t want Z to have a cop background, obviously.

When I applied the golf consideration to the cards is rippled along very fast. The speed at which that happened tells me it is probably correct. Also the crime scene connection with golf appears to be legit in light of that. It is re-enforcing itself.

I think too many people were trying to pass stuff off as a coincidence but now its too overwhelming to ignore without looking like one is deliberately ignoring it on purpose. At this stage, you can’t fail to miss it. However I can understand why some people would want nothing to do with it. What a can of worms that is. I think they would prefer the comfort of good relations with inside sources rather than that comfort zone having to undergo a radical shift. There are a multitude of psychological factors going on and each one is very important to note and retain for other serial killer cases of a similar nature. Le Grele happened to be another one of them. It is making sense that these outlier serial killer cases that are unsolved despite so much evidence and forensic awareness pointing at serial killers with the edge because they are officials in some capacity, especially law enforcement related stuff. Even Dennis Rader was a compliance officer. It has really good explanatory power.

Even if I am wrong about the POIs it is highly unlikely all those hits aren’t meaningful. You can even see the current peek about for new POIs incorporates a lot of those traits found in my POIs but missing the mark on important details. I just hope the Zodiac gets identified so the families of the victims have something to go on and maybe reveal more about what they were up to.

I am quite happy with how things went. It was worth going through all the muck for it. I don’t know why some people put such investment into an internet alias name they don’t want to embarrass by making mistakes. Mistakes are part and parcel of the process. Nobody gets everything right in one go. That’s total fantasy land.
