I’m very mainstream but eclectic in my musical tastes.
One album made me no longer scared of dying -(In the aeroplane over the sea) by Neutral Milk Hotel.

A 200mg inhalation of N,N-dimethyltryptamine vapour made me no longer afraid of death. Well, it made me experience and understand death… …but that is a long story for another time and place.

Like I said, these days I am more into jam, jazz, reggae, dub-reggae, and psychedelic. I like positive themed music centered on peace, love, unity, and spirituality. I feel that negative music, negative thoughts, negative speech, and so on, tend to bring negativity into your life, and that for me it was easier to remain happy in life with positive external influences, and the reggae I like mostly talks about peace, and love, women, and ganja, and living a positive life in accordance with the most high, it’s positive stuff.

I wish others could know all the love i have found through reggae, dub-reggae, jam, jazz, and psychedelic music.

I also love hip-hop, but not necessarily mainstream or thug hip-hop, more like ·Eyedea and abilities ·Abstract rude ·Lucid optics ·Sage Francis ·Dead prez ·KRS-1 ·Afrika Bambaataa / soul sonic force ·Wu tang clan, and so on…

…though I still highly appreciate metal from my younger days, and I still like certain metal, bands like cephalic carnage cephalic carnage even blends jazz styles into their grindcore.

As far as extreme-metal goes, most of it is incredibly intricate regarding notation, timing, and skill required to preform it, it’s like classical music, it reminds me of Mozart, but with an edge. I love the music, but don’t love the lyrical content and negativity, at least not any more, I have mellowed out a lot since my youth. Extreme metal like iowaska I see as positive, it is an all female psychedelic crust band, great stuff.

I also love, jam/bluegrass, and when some of those bluegrass guys get playing their incredibly fast and intricate combinations of chords, scales and notes it is exactly like grindcore or deathmetal, it is just acoustic with a sunnier feel to it.

There is actually a band called "the zodiac kilkers", I have never heard their music, I just saw an album cover at one place or another. Anybody heard these guys? Is it a metal band?

Cephalic Carnage rules! I mostly listen to 70’s, 80’s and 90’s metal and rock. I hate this new ‘deathcore’ crap that looks like a bunch of gross emo kids attempting to play real death metal. Here are some of my favorite bands just off the top of my head:

Thrash: Exhorder, old Sepultura, old Slayer, Kreator, Sodom, Destruction, old Metallica, Anthrax, S.O.D., Megadeth, Demolition Hammer, Nuclear Assault, Suicidal Tendencies, D.R.I. etc.

Blackened Death Metal: Behemoth, Belphegor, Destroyer 666

Doom/Stoner/Sludge: Acid Bath, Bongzilla, Electric Wizard, Sleep, Kyuss, Saint Vitus, Neurosis, Eyehategod, Crowbar, Sunn O))), Church of Misery, Bong Breaker, YOB, Down, Acid King etc.

Grind/Crust: Carcass, Disrupt, Nausea, Napalm Death, AxCx, Nasum, Gorgasm, Pig Destroyer, Brutal Truth, Repulsion, Brujeria, Devourment, Waco Jesus etc.

Rock: Sabbath, Pentagram, Zeppelin, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Skynyrd, Grateful Dead etc.

I better stop before I spend hours on this.

You have great taste in music, specially when it comes to crust, ·nausea used to be one of my favorites, I used to think the girl singer was cute. Then of coarse there are the classics like ·Doom, ·Extinction of mankind ·Misery · aus rotten ·The pist, and so on…

We had a pretty good scene back then… ·forced instinct ·Black lung ·Catheter ·The clusterfux ·Deadlock frequency ·Angels never answer ·Lyin’ bitch and the restraining orders ·Black market fetus ·Disgruntled I hate your face …damn, it’s been so long, I know I am forgetting tons…

I can’t believe that you know about bongzilla! In my home state we would have the "doomed to grind" two day grind and crust show, it was held at an autogarage called "freedom auto", which was a little auto yard in the middle of nowhere, so there was no security or anything like that, it was an amazing environment for a crust/grind show, far more freedom than the shows of today. That was probably my favorite bongzilla show, it’s way more fun when you can blaze front row in a building without a stage.

When I was young I played and toured in a punk rock band, so I have met (and played shows) with a good deal of the underground punk rock bands from that time, of coarse this was all over 15 years ago, and I have moved into a totally different life. I decided to leave the punk rock life to become a chemist specializing in tryptamine and phenethylamine chemistry.

…brings back good memories though, it seems like it was from another life.

I’m a huge Bongzilla fan! I was in a band a long time ago and our very first show was this weekend metal fest in a corn field in Wisconsin and Bongzilla headlined. I got so baked with those guys haha. I’m actually thinking about asking them to join Killing Spree Records now that they are back together and not on a label.

I like the list of bands you mentioned! Think I will spend my night at work jamming some old school doom and crust!

For sure.

It’s been a long time for me.

These days I am more into dub-reggae, jam, and psychedelic, though I still enjoy the punk, crust, and grindcore that I grew up listening to.

Bands like ·Sublime and ·Long beach dub allstars have been some of my favorites even since I was a kid. Every time I was smoking cannabis, or at a party, or making love to a girl, or just chillin’ with all my friends ·Sublime was always playing. And everybody loved it, from the punk rockers, to the hip-hop kids, to the rude boys, rastas, reggae freaks, gangsters, stoners, skateboarders, hippies, dealers, and party people of all types. ·Sublime was the universal party band that was loved by all the tribes. It is one of the few bands I still love from when I was younger.

The crust and grind scene was great, but slowly disintegrated, plus, as I got older my musical tastes mellowed out quite a bit. I still enjoy heavy music from time to time, but for the most part I like music that is focused on peace and love and positivity. I am also heavily involved in eastern spirituality and psychedelia, and music centered on love tends to fit in better with the work that I am focused on now.

Ill be sure to check out some of the bands on your label though. Sounds like great stuff.
