And this is absolutely great, a Joshua Ledet (nr 3 in American Idol 2012) original, "Here to die", his first own written single, only released on Youtube

And if you haven’t seen him in American Idol here are two incredible preformances:

Cool, thanks.

BTW, I got to shake hands with the Zodiac at a concert Wednesday night, but unfortunately I forgot my phone at him and couldn’t get a pic.

I’m listening to Brittany Spear’s classic pop record "You Rock Me In", for no good reason.

Joan Baez singing in German = bliss.

"If, after I depart this vale, you ever remember me and have thought to please my ghost, forgive some sinner and wink your eye at some homely girl."

Probably of no interest to 99% of you, I bring you US technical melodic death metal from Allegaeon. I’ve been following them for years and they’re just hitting the big time. This video is particularly funny for any metal fans, it’s a wonderful middle finger to those idiots who get into genre wars on youtube comments (I’d imagine most of the fashion statements would mean nothing to non-metal fans). Aside from that, the 8-string guitars, insane drums & bass, and lyrics about the golden ratio these guys are frankly amazing (and don’t take themselves too seriously)

Got to spam another metal track I’m afraid – in my opinion the best metal act to come out of the UK since Iron Maiden – Sylosis (at least since their second album Edge of the earth)

For those of you guitarists out there who want to see some of the cleanest and best sweep picking skip to 0.50 (and there’s videos on youtube of him doing it live too so no trickery)
They’re a wonderful mix of thrash and modern metal – and they even tune to E which is a rarity these days. They label themselves ‘Justice for All-core’ which will make sense to any Metallica fans I’m sure.

I saw Allegaeon live once. They were boring in concert. Musically they are very talented, but not my cup-o-tea. I prefer the old school stuff like Suffocation, Morbid Angel and Dying Fetus.

That’s a shame to hear – maybe they were having an off-day. I went to a Dimmu Borgir a few years ago, a gig that everyone said would be amazing going by past performances and they were shit. Amon Amarth were on before them though and were bloody amazing so I found a new band that night at least.
Funny you mention these old school death bands (I guess they are traditional death?) , I grew up with 80’s/90’s metal but could never get into that side, stuff like Allegaeon is about as deathy as I get.
Did you check out Sylosis?

Amon Amarth is pretty cool. Yeah I like Sylosis. They remind me of another band but I’m having a hell of a time remembering which band lol. It’s an underground band from Canada, that is all I can remember.

YES!!! I love doom metal, and also stoner metal, which is pretty similar. Sleep, Bongzilla and bands like that. Have you heard of the French band called Ghost? Not really doom, but has some doom influence to it. They are pretty good.
