It is possible Zodiac was killed by a victim. But Zodiac was not known to break into homes, were he might be killed by an armed homeowner. He attacked teenagers and young adults at lovers lanes and beaches, situations where the victims are not likely to be armed. It is possible he did some home invasion murders, like Nancy Bennallack, etc., but these were single females and also not likely to be armed.
As for Zodiac being killed by a Satanic cult, I see no solid evidence of Z ever being involved in Satanism, or a cult or having accomplices. As for claims that the Son of Sam, Manson Family and/or Zodiac were involved in nationwide cult or criminal gang, there are no solid facts to support it. The book Ultimate Evil is a good read, but lacks solid facts and evidence. The claim by the Son of Sam that this nationwide cult was involved in the murder of Arliss Perry has now been proven false. DNA on her body was found to belong to the guard who said he discovered her body, and he killed himself rather than face arrest.

I just do not know the habits of young people in California during the 1960s as far as carrying guns is concerned. These days young men carry guns quite frequently. We carried guns years ago. I know how many psychos are out there and I have always known this since childhood. The Zodiac went after weak males and females. He went after young white kids like lambs to the slaughter. All these killers always target whites for the most part, the killers know the white people don’t typically carry any guns. That’s why they always have mass shootings of white people. You never seen these killers going down into the hood. They know they got guns down there. Look at the neighborhood in San Francisco the zodiac picked to shoot his victim Paul Stine. The neighborhood is an upper class white neighborhood. The zodiac targeted whites. I am very certain he realized that if he went up to a car with black people and tried to pull that zodiac nonsense he would’ve been killed himself. I always get the sense that Zodiac was targeting draft dodgers. He knew these young men were getting out of military service by going to collage.
