Certain this is a road others have gone down.

But i’m following a story here in Australia about a bottle found at a scene some 30 years ago which has provided a critical piece of evidence in solve this particular case.

Whilst naturally it’s unknown if Zodiac was the consumer of the bottle and if any parallels between these cases can be used but i’m curious if anything was undertaken regarding this bottle? i believe it was taken into evidence at the time.

Thoughts or information?

I’ve attached a photo of the bottle (found it on ZKF.com). Also, this bottle, along with the clothesline and other unidentified pieces of LB evidence, were sent to the lab for DNA analysis. Apparently, that led to nothing.

I’d be interested to know where exactly that bottle was found at the crime scene. Nothing in the police reports suggests that Bryan or Cecelia ever mentioned Z carrying a bottle.

Have seen lots of 20 30 40 year old cases getting solved like this. Don’t seem to be many 50-year-old ones getting solved like this though.

I imagine 50 years is beyond the cut off point where the samples have just degraded too much.

I believe it was found stuck into a tree stump? Not sure why it was collected as evidence unless it was close enough to the scene they thought it might have been left by Zodiac.

Yeah wasn’t it found in a stump next to where he was standing watching people from or something. So they decided to place it into evidence.

Maybe with the mud at LB aswell his footprints showed he came from that stump.

If this was a more recent case woulda perhaps been a great source of DNA.

Is anyone able to identify was kind of bottle that is? Is has a strange label and it is hard to judge its size.

Wine bottle maybe? Or whiskey?

ETA:

On closer inspection it looks like it has a handle. Also, the white paper is the label on the evidence bag. At first glance, I thought it was the label on the bottle.

Haha my POI Raymond Lee Huffman was about as bad boozer as they come. Plus had a job in the past as a Wing Walker.
