Helen Axe Lied about her Boyfriend, to the Benicia Police, he wasn’t her boyfriend he was her Husband. They were Married in 1965 when he was 18 and she was 15. They had been Married for THREE YEARS.
This makes 2 Conflicts in her Accounting of that night.
Her Navy Husband Thomas F. Axe (F.=Frank), was a Navy Missile Fire Control Technician – Skaggs Island, CA – Corona Program Riverside, CA – Sand Diego, CA and Fueling for the Stratosfere Bombing MAC Planes at March and Travis AFB. I got the info from Ancestry.com. They were still married and had a baby together in the late 70’s. The address she gives is her sister and brother in law’s. Both her and Tom are actually listed as living in San Diego before then. Tom’s tour was over in 1969. He reinlisted reservist and worked at PGE Telephone company. Some time in 1969 Helen’s Sister and Brother in law moved to a house a half a mile away from the Napa phone booth. The house that Helen and Tom lived in was less than a mile away from the pay phone in Vallejo. Adding that with the fact he looks spot on to the sketch and that’s just his high school photo, I am inclined to think he is a great suspect.
A handwriting sample would be interesting, if one could be found. Do we know whether he’s still alive?

If Helen did tell the police they were just boyfriend/girlfriend, as opposed to married, then that is certainly suspect.
Or she at least had betrayed her husband.

Why say "my boyfriend" in reference to your husband? Makes no sense.
