And yet, the voices Harntell and Slaight heard were apparently different than the voice Slover heard. I would image it would have been easier to disguise a voice (if that is what he did) with Nancy Slover.

True enough. Well, they are – at least – the only three people who heard the canonical Zodiac. Whether that Zodiac was one, two or more people is a different question – but whoever made the BRS and LB calls was not "Sam", if we are to believe the trio (and I see no reason why we shouldn’t).

Well, Eric Weil was certainly obsessed with Belli. He made several calls to Belli’s home from the place where he was institutionalized (these calls were traced, so there is no doubt there). The caller admits – on the show – to having called the station on a previous occasion (when Belli was a guest), which ties in nicely with Weil being the caller.

All in all, it seems they had very good reason to believe Weil was indeed "Sam".

I suppose it’s possible that some other disturbed individual made the Dunbar call, but it doesn’t seem all that important to me who "Sam" was as long as he wasn’t Z. Which he by all accounts was not (three people who actually talked to Z all firmly concluded that "Sam" was definitely not Z, nor does his "behavior" during the conversation with Belli seem Zodiac-ish at all, quite to the contrary, I should say).

Good points. I think maybe it was just the audio made him sound different. Recording devices were, after all, not nearly as hi-tech as they are today.
