TF, I am on Tom’s info@zodiackiller mass mailing list. I save all emails. I checked back to see what I received from Tom on that date. I did not receive an email about photographing the DMV letter but I did receive an email on that date with Tom saying that he had been allowed to photograph the basement where the Good Times commune prepared the newspaper.
That’s all I know for sure!
Ok thanks Seagull, what an odd coincident! I don’t know what to think now ?

Here is a link where a copy of the full email was posted back in Oct 19, 2010 by MB :

And of interest IMO is this:
That July 14, 2010, aprox. 3 weeks after the alleged June 26, 2010 Tom V DMV email,
Tom V started a "ZODIAC’S SECRET "DMV" LETTER" thread, this is #1 post:

Post subject: ZODIAC’S SECRET "DMV" LETTER
While I don’t yet have as many details as I would like, at some point the Zodiac wrote a letter to the chairman of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in California. The letter was authenticated, apparently via handwriting, and was kept quiet for reasons unknown.
I have mentioned this letter in chat but have waited to get permission from my source before starting a thread. My source is a high-ranking official within California law enforcement and is known by enough members here that his reliability is not in question.
The reason I have only lately been attempting to get permission from my source is because I just recently learned from victim Paul Stine’s sister that Paul’s wife at the time of his murder worked for the DMV.
I will post more details as they surface, and my source and I are working on just that.

You know TF, I don’t think that this particular issue needs to be gone over again. It detracts from Stooge Deluxe’s original post in the thread.
I think if Tom had the DMV letter he would have posted it by now. There are too many possible scenario’s involved that can go both ways. One possible scenario is that Mike was duped by someone who said that they received that email and sent Mike a doctored up email, Mike did not necessarily have to have faked anything as Tom believes.
And in the long run it really doesn’t matter who is right and who is wrong about that email. We still haven’t seen the DMV letter and we ALL would like to.
Kudos to Stooge Deluxe for trying!
This letter has always intrigued the heck out of me…for obvious reasons. So frustrating!
Should have whipped up a blue dragoon for the guy!
As time has gone on, I have come to see that Z was absolutely obsessed with cars. Just reflect on all the crimes (using a taxi as a mobile crime scene, writing on a car) and the letter references to motorcycles, prowl cars, etc., the bus bombs (powered by car batteries, no less!), the ties created to the Johns and Bates cases… All involve car and vehicle references. Therefore, when you suggest that Z wrote to a public agency and that agency "just happened" to be the DMV, it makes perfect sense! I therefore believe that this letter truly DOES exist…and I am dying to know what it says!

Does anyone know who the chairman of the DMV was in Sacramento?
Soze
I am a bartender at a pretty popular Ma & Pa bar and grill in downtown Sacramento. The other day, one of the regulars came in and I noticed that he had a California DOJ card key. So, I waiting until he got a nice buzz going and I asked him: "so tell me about that Zodiac Killer letter you guys have under lock and key at your work’"? He was surprised that I knew about it and told me that he knew the whereabouts of the letter. I then offered him a week of free whiskey and beer if he got me a copy of it. He looked at me for a few seconds and then told me "hell no"! So, there is my attempt to help the solve the case!
Good try!
