There were hundreds of bombs set off every year in that era. Were there any cases of bombs being set off by flashlights, or light sources, similar to what was diagrammed? Were there any bombings, or attempts, or what have you, involving flashlights being shined onto mirrors as a trip wire. etc.?
I keep running into people who say this was common knowledge. You could see something like it in a comic book! It didn’t require any unusual expertise. Anyone could have drawn that design.
If it was common, shouldn’t there be other examples? Are there any? Can anyone find an example?
Does anyone know of an instance where a similar bomb design was used, or put into motion, or something, in that era?
I think we would know if it had been. And I’m trying to make a point. But I also am genuinely curious. It would be helpful if we knew.
Photoelectric bombs were certainly known at the time, but I don’t know if any were actually detonated.
