I’ve read before about a Zodiac Shack…my POI was known to use a shack to committ crimes.
It was down by the Bay in Hercules, CA, behind the Little League diamonds, in a grove of Eucalyptus,
now covered by a housing development.

Like this place?
I know one guy–not on the forum, but out in the world–who’s gathered a lot of information that he believes indicates that Zodiac used at least five different properties as operational headquarters (the pictures above show one of them; location cannot be divulged w/o his permission), for lack of a better term. Most of what this guy comes up with are "theories" in search of supporting facts (which means they aren’t theories at all), but even I have to admit that the stuff he has on this "Zodiac shack" thing is more solid than what he usually has.

Oh My God I have to send these off to my daughter who witnessed this stuff….
I will let you know if she recognizes it…
It’s in my book "Tit Willow: The Story of the Zodiac Killer"

Could you maybe share what general area that shed is located?

yes please do you have the location? It’s definitely California as Eucalyptus trees only
grow here and in Australia.

The Zodiac shack…lol
Not to burst anyone’s bubble, but that came about from a place off LHR. People used to party in these creepy places and I think that is all there really is to it.
If anyone has evidence Zodiac hung out in old shacks, I’d love to hear it.

Alas, you are correct. I just reported what my acquaintance believes about the shacks. This does not constitute an endorsement. As I’ve said before, I, in the tradition of Carl Sagan, like to keep an open mind (but not open that my brain falls out;-)
The particular shack pictured above is approximately 1 mile outside of the tiny town of Bodega, CA (not Bodega Bay, just Bodega).

That said, his info on these structures is a bit more tangible than what he usually comes up with. Still very, VERY likely to be nothing but coincidence, but it at least held my interest, in a 1970’s ABC Movie of the Week kind of way.

OK Wow you really got me with the Eucalyptus Bodega is very far away from Hercules, CA
Did your contact document any shacks nearer to Vallejo this is more the legend I have heard
about

Any info on WHY this person belive that Zodiac used this shack?
And what was Zodiac supposed to have used this shack for?
Made me think of the 1970s Santa Rosa murders which some belive Zodiac may have been involved in.
IF ( a big IF) there is somthing to it, could that shack have been the location where he took the SR murder victims to assult and kill them?
Also… that area was kind of close to where Fred Manalli lived.

This guy’s POI (he doesn’t use that term; he just calls him "Zodiac," like it’s a foregone conclusion) supposedly was a would-be writer who worked at least some of the time for an insurance agency that did a lot of business with farmers and ranchers. He had (again, supposedly), access to lots of properties all over the Bay Area. How he got this info, he won’t say; this guy is the husband of a woman who works where I work, not someone I know well. He’s a bit odd (he shows up with his wife at some of the meetings and hangs around eating the cookies).
Supposedly (just insert your own supposedlies from now on; it’ll save a little time), the POI had a letter from his employer granting him the authority to act as his agent in all matters concerning site visits to the properties. He used that as an excuse to conduct "inspections" and "appraisal updates," climbing over barbed wire fences and in some cases opening padlocks on gates. Since he was told the owners that mainly concerned with the fire danger of abandoned structures on the properties, the land owners rarely paid any attention to him, since he never got in anyone’s way. The properties he had access to included the one pictured above near Bodega, another that may have been the burned-down "Zodiac Shack" on Sky Valley Rd (he just said it was near LHR and had burned down in the last few years), and about 10 others. The only other place he’s told me about specifically is near Hwy 121 and Cuttings Wharf Rd in southern Napa County. At both of the two locations he identified–the Bodega and Cuttings Wharf Rd places–he found and photographed the phrase (or code, or who knows what) "Swinner 825" carved into the wood of one of the structural elements inside , about 3′ off the ground. He’s shown me the photos, and in both cases the carving looks old and weathered. However, he won’t let me have the files (he showed me prints), so there are no EXIF data available. There’s no independent corroboration that the photos were taken where he says they were taken or that they weren’t edited to appear old and weathered. All I can confirm is that the two structures he identified were there as of 2009 (actually, the Bodega structure was still there in 2010 as well; I haven’t been back to the Napa County spot because it’s not really on any route I normally follow).
I cannot confirm that these carvings actually exist at the locations where this guy claims he photographed them. I was parked on the side of the road to take pictures of the Bodega location and a Sonoma County deputy stopped to see what I was doing. I told him, "Just taking a break from riding and snapping a few pictures of that old house and barn." He told me to be sure NOT to climb the fence to get closer or he’d cite me for trespassing. He added that he wouldn’t normally care or take the time, but that the current owners of the property had filed numerous complaints due to an increase in trespassers and some vandalism, especially at night (it was the middle of the day when I was there).
I assign a very low probability that the guy with all of this "info" is actually on the level, but if he’s not, he sure as heck went through a lot of effort to make it look as if he had something.

Tom V. has gone to and has photos of a Zodiac shack apparantly near Vallejo. Any of the ones mentioned here the same place?

Tahoe is is correct, thee Zodiac shack was off of LHR in Vallejo. True that Tom V was there and took pictures , I was there with him on one of his visits there. It was creepy looking with lots of strange printing, much smaller than the one in the picture above. It is long gone now, so save your time looking for it.
