Allot of people are probably just drawn to the mystery.

Its funny, I have always read about murders and crime and can’t remember a time I wasn’t fascinated with it. But it wasn’t until my early twenties that I really started learning about Z. And somehow I found him more terrifying than most killers, except for perhaps the Night Stalker. Z doesn’t have all the "sexy" gore and mutilations that seem to drive the common interest in these things. He is far more terrifying than that, somehow.
But the thing that really got me addicted was this idea that it is possibly SOLVABLE, from your lawn chair. You could possibly sit down and figure these ciphers out. That is a tantalizing and nearly painful exercise in futility for anyone who attempts it. I opened up the letters in After Effects and was tinkering with them til it felt like my eyes were gonna bleed. I haven’t attempted it in a few months. Its too maddening.
Personally I now find most murderers extremely uninteresting. Those who are motivated by sadism or sex are especially dull. I know why people are animals, but I don’t know what makes a Zodiac. This is the thing. He always seems to stand outside of what we think we know.

I am sure I am not the only one who has been driven to such frustration by this prismatic madman that I actually shook my fist at the sky. "WHO ARE YOU YOU F*&KER!"
