I don’t think he cared anyone saw him. SOMEONE saw him that day. He wasn’t driving around with the hood on. I think the hood was for him…not to hide his identity, imo.

If you follow his actions, the three girls experienced the same thing Bryan and Cecelia did. He even came down and walked around them. When they looked at him, he would look away. (Same with doc and son)…no friendly, "hello". And one girl mentioned what was possibly a white belt. "Zodiac" had A LOT of white clothesline. Same black "styled" hair., pouched stomach, dark clothes..more talk here: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=131

Sorry going off topic but do we know what the girls looked like. Were their are similarity to Cecelia ?

Sorry Tahoe and just don’t buy it. He was sitting in his car for a half hour or more smoking cigarettes while the girls seen enough of him to give a good description of him. After they leave he gets out of his vehicle and gets his costume out of the trunk. So nobody else will be able to identify him! Makes no sense! Again I don’t think Zodiac was a genius at all but do believe he had some common sense.

Tahoe trust you know more about the case then I do! I just think if Zodiac knew he was sure seen by witness that day he would leave and comeback a few days later. Just my opinion or maybe he was stupid.

He wasn’t concerned about concealing his face at BRS or PH, so if you think it’s the same guy, that would be consistent behavior. If concealing his face in front of the victims was the purpose, a simple ski mask would suffice. The costume took a lot of effort to create; it had a more significant purpose to him than simply identity disguise.

I don’t believe his costume was so people wouldn’t identify him.

This person looked away when the girls looked his way. He probably thought he was being sneaky. Seems like he thought it wouldn’t matter if they saw him…and it appears it didn’t…no matter who he was. He never came forward, nor did the man the doc and son saw.

For the record, I cannot say whether I know more than you. :) It’s all a matter of opinion.’

@cragle…not sure what the girls looked like.

Is anyone in touch with any of the 3 girls?

Soze

Seems like someone (morf?) tried to reach out. I’d sure like to!

I think he primarily wore it for the thrill, but I do think to some degree he understood that it would be beneficial to disguise his face during the actual killing. That way if spotted during he would make a daring figure without being identifiable in court. If he donned it and then prowled the beach he would have drawn attention to himself. But if he was seen at other parts of the beach and then seen during the act no one could say for sure if he was the same person.

Not that he particularly planned on being seen, but the costume covered several scenario’s and was handy in any eventuality. So it served multiple purposes, none of which are mutually exclusive. He could look dashing if spotted, feel dashing if not spotted and hope to at least evade prosecution if identified.
