There is also supposedly Zodiac DNA which is run automatically on a weekly basis by CODIS.
When did they develop a DNA profile on Zodiac? Got a link to a story about it, because that would be HUGE news.
My guess is that it is a partial profile that is useable only with there systems.
I’ve been experimenting with my own DNA profile (the data), I delete large segments (create a partial profile) and then try to add a “inert filler” using various segments of unrelated people and bam i have a “full profile” that gedmatch will upload and even solves the mistakes in the data for me , no questions asked
Naturally these profiles directly find me which is not exciting, finding relatives close to me after discounting for the fillers is.
my point, if there was ever a partial profile we could settle this matter with in days. (Provided there is manpower to encode the partial profile back into the correct format)
Yes, dyslexia is probably my first undiagnosed language.
Did the US Navy do much cryptography in the 1960s? Just wondering if DeAngelo would know anything about ciphers.

Interesting! Grounds for hope that even fragmentary DNA could be used to catch Zodiac, and LE might be doing this right now.

I don’t think the penny has dropped yet for LE.
i’ve found various programs available that can convert dna coding from one format to another.
If i could just get 1 complete autosome from that partial profile i could readily replace the same chromosomes from my own profile, slap it up onto gedmatch and play spot the differences.
And that’s before i cough up the $5 usd for tier 1
Maybe i’m wrong or there’s variables i can’t see.

It just occurred to me… this is so easy for LE to do with a partial profile that it boggles my mind why it (if it exists) hasn’t been uploaded to Gedmatch.
In conclusion there is no partial dna profile, if there was it would allready be online 10 years ago..

No, you can see by that users post here they misinterpreted a news report…
That report has a headline that reads they submitted DNA, but if you read it all they did was send the two letters to the lab to have them tested to retrieve DNA. One of Tom’s sources told him they did get DNA, but that was months after this post.
Hmm thank-you curious for straightening that one out, i guess also it’s not for anyone of us to know.

Could a mod move this thread to the suspects & POIs section and retitle it "Joseph James DeAngelo"? Just a suggestion.
A long blog post outlining the similarities between the two killers (warning for graphic content): https://murderincorp.wordpress.com/2019/08/01/gzk/
