Zodiac – How much pressure do you think he felt?

Surely living with knowing that he himself was the Zodiac must have infiltrated a massive part of his brain and thought process, I assume it may have worn him down at times, perhaps a drunken out-burst after one too many drinks. I think it is fair to rationally assume; being the Zodiac day in and day out must have been incredibly difficult.

I get he was like a sociopath, but do you guys feel he must have really experienced a huge pressure having this secret alter-ego? Wakening up in the morning and putting on a mask (not literally), going to work, and probably discussing yourself with a colleague like "did you hear that latest on Zodiac" must have been a bit crazy even for him.

In your opinion how do you feel he coped with this? Or did he, perhaps he committed suicide? Couldn’t live with the pressure any longer. I find it pretty amazing how he managed to juggle this crazy secret for as long as he did, without slipping up and getting caught. It is almost too good to be true in the way he evaded capture and to this day we do not know who he is.

Your thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I recommend that you check out the zodiac movie "Behavioral Profiling" of the Zodiac killer by Criminal profiler Sharon Pagaling Hagan (see link at the end of this post)

Here are two interesting quotes from Sharon Pagaling Hagan’s "Zodiac" movie video, and I agree 100% with Sharon Pagaling Hagan :

Quote:
"We are looking for somebody who very much was capable of keeping a secret. I don’t think that this individual is the type of person who needed to confide in another person, he was very much a loner."

Quote:
"What was the purpose of the crimes, what was the emotional payoff for this offender? and really, I think it was to establish himself as being an important newsworthy person, it was almost like a bizarre marketing technic."

IMO the whole profiling video is spot on…

Criminal profiler Sharon Pagaling Hagan did worke the Zodiac killer case while she was working at the "Califonia Department Of Justice"

Thanks for the great quotes and link.

I find it mind-blowing how he lived with this, without a slip up.

Mr. Lowe when I first became involved with this case the first thing I wanted to do was let The World know that "I knew who The Zodiac Killer really was"! Why? It’s very similar I’m sure to what Zodiac has felt his whole life. Knowing things that Movies have been written about and knowing intimate details of how and why victims were selected and then slaughtered and further catalogued and then all filed away like a Taxman might do on a regular day at the office? The Zodiac crimes were just the beginning of this mans onslaught of terror and destruction that has lasted more than Half A Century and counting.
Knowing all of this is it not quite obvious that Law Enforcement failed miserably then and continues till this day? Here’s the bottom line when it comes to this case: The chain of command that’s in place within The Criminal Justice system was flawed then and that is how Zodiac exploited it and it continues today which is why Zodiac will never pay for his crimes. If there are incompetent officers working the front desk and flunkies manning the phones it’s pretty safe to say that Zodiacs’ not going to be caught today. The man behind the Zodiac mask is the kind of person who masters anything he comes into contact with. Whether it be a minimal task or completing something that would take a hundred men and millions of dollars to complete he could pull it off himself!
I have some errands to run myself! I will check back in soon.Cheers :)

These people don’t have feelings like you and I do. They don’t care. Almost every serial killer of note had a job, and in fact owned their own business( John Gacey, Juan Corona, Albert Fish, Angelo Buono, among others. Buddy was a law student. These were not poor people by any means. And they all carried on seemingly normal lives with some degree of financial success. These are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Even when he was caught and admitted to doing the killings, the police who knew DeSalvo well, did not believe he did it. He was a very likeable man and there is no getting around that. He had split personalities and was mentally two totally different people.
