Hi, all. haven’t posted around here in a while. Most of my true crime time has been going to other things. But I have an idea.

Recently, the publishers of the New Oxford Shakespeare announced they were going to give credit to the playwright Christopher Marlowe for several of Shakespeare’s plays. Professors using computer algorithms say they’ve found portions of the play that were actually written by other playwrights in collaboration.

I think it’s a crap decision. Whatever editing or ghost writing was done by other men, their deals with the Bard should be respected. But I think the techniques have considerable potential application to the Z case. We have multiple authors who are POIs and a series of letters. It would be interesting to see what, if anything, could be gleaned from these techniques to identify the author of the Z letters. Even if we just managed to eliminate some or all of the prominent POIs that write – Gaikowski, Manalli, Kaczynski – it would be a step forward. And of course one might turn out to be Zodiac.

With that in mind, I’m going to write some experts in the field and see if I can interest one in comparing the letters to the writings of some of the POIs. I wrote one member of the group a few days ago. I haven’t heard back. I figure there will be some rejection along the way before something hits. But even if we just got a sharp grad student, it could be beneficial.

Does any one have any suggestions that I’m not thinking of? I’m also thinking that a researcher might be able to go through letters to the editor and look for similar letters.

Hi-

Just avoid that sham named Dr. Don Foster. He first read the JonBenet Ramsey letter for the defense and said he would testify that Patsy had not written it and then later when asked to read it by the police he stated that she DID write it. So it depended on who was paying him what he would say, lol. Lost all credibility in that way.

Read what Gerald McMenamin had to say about him in his book. Not pretty.

Not sure. He wrote an autobiography but a lot of it was probably ghost written. Can’t be sure what he wrote, if anything, and what someone else wrote.
