I don’t know if anybody has noticed this already but I found it interesting so I figured I’d share with you.
The last 18 symbols of the Z408 have a palindromic point of length five.
If you count 18 spaces to the right of the decimal point in Pi you run into the edge of a palindrome with the length of five.
There is also a strange amount of similarities between the numbers in that area and the symbols in the cipher.

The next thing is a similarity between the z408 and z340. If you center both ciphers (original image by doranchak and Largo) and you look at where the words "paradice" and "slaves" appear in the z408 plaintext, there is a vertical string that has some odd symmetry in both of the ciphers.

What I found even more interesting, is that the top of this column ends at the one spot in the z408 where the filled in triangle symbol mapped to a third plaintext letter.
In the z408 this was the spot where the polyphone mapped to the letter I. If we look at the z340 the Symbol is a vertical line similar to an i. The z340 is lacking the capitol "I" symbol (also a polyphone) that was used in the z408.

Even more interesting is that the symmetrical vertical column and the horizontal space where "paradice" from the z408 would map to in the z340 line up exactly at the edges of the main folds in the cipher.

What any of this means I have no idea, but maybe somebody will find it interesting as well.
Interesting observations.
I have also found it mildly interesting that if you take the letters in the unsolved 18 you can spell the words BOTH PRIME.
Far more interesting is that if you apply a Caesar code with 0 – 3 – 6 – 9 shift values, you can translate the unsolved 18 into the 18 letter name of a convicted serial killer, bomb designer and creator of codes that the FBI could not break. Who lived in Berkeley, California at the time, wrote in his journal of his desire to kill college students, couples having sex and promiscuous women, did his doctoral thesis on circles and drew crossed lines inside a circle at a crime scene.
The Caesar code shift pattern that produces that name has as a key component, appearing once singularly and once doubled, 99 69 63. Which is also the last line written on the car door at the Lake Berryessa crime scene reduced to numbers.

You mentioned synchronicity with Pi. The word Zodiac itself has a very interesting synchronicity with Pi.
