Oh…and my reasoning for Z being on ranches is that serial killers usually start with animals. Z must have killed animals before humans in my opinion. What better place to start than a ranch that has to slaughter animals daily?
All of the ones I posted are from Colorado. I have also found matches in Utah. There are a few from California I have found though none of the oddball symbols like the ones from Colorado.
I have not been able to find a few. UT I equate this to Z actually using a personal brand book built over many years. Naturally some of them will be in brand books, but some, from small ranches, may not be. Z either had a brand booked passed down or inherited is my guess. Someone in his life was involved in branding and ranches in some manner.
So far I couldn’t find the halloween symbol in the Colorado brand book..(p. 591) and not in the Kiowa section either? Maybe I’m old and blind, so please help me to get over the highway
Sorry….correction….the Halloween symbols are in the 1962 Colorado book page 454….and the Circle 8 is on page 269.
Here is an odd connection to Utah…..from the Halloween Card. The Peek-a-boo part.
Anywho…..look familiar?
That is a picture of Peek-a-boo gulch in Utah….the pic is one of the more famous spots of peek-a-boo gulch. Looks oddly like the hole in the tree from the halloween card huh? Happens to be in Zion National Park and is also called Red Canyon. Oddly enough…Tim Holt filmed Wagon Train there in Kanab Utah in 1940….and it was an RKO movie.
I can’t help but think about the connection to Z and brands right now, but looking at all of these books has me wondering something. Z used a felt tip pen from what I have read…the symbols in the older brand books appear to have been handwritten with a similar pen. Could Z have been a brand book writer or worked for the publisher of one of these books?

Wow, the "Brand connecting" , and the Z symbols are getting interesting. Added to this the finding of Tahoe, there are outlines, not mere speculation, but a possible path to be taken !!!

I feel the same. Not sure why the brand idea has been pushed under the rug but I think most are focused on a particular POI and have tunnel vision. Z is not going to be found with tunnel vision…some are dead set on their POI and can’t see the Forrest for the trees….
I have a POI but if he doesn’t pan out then so be it. I am looking at every angle and the brand angle is producing real information for me.
Basically I am looking at evidence and then trying to find out if my POI has been there or had contact with the places I am researching.
My research is broad though, so I am looking at any link I can to Zodiac in general, the back tracing my POI to the area….not the other way around.
I feel like many are taking their POI and fitting a few things together then trying to make them work. If my POI doesn’t fit the research then I will continue to research and find out who Z really is/was.
Going with the flow of branding. On the Halloween card the 4`s are written slightly different. (4-teen) it could easily be a "J" on its side making it read as "Lazy j" or even the "lazy j bar"
Maybe I missed it, but is there any source of where those two symbols can actually be found?
I think we have been looking for the circled 8 for a long time, so I think it is an interesting matter. The other one even is more fascinating as Z had used a similar one as an address on the Halloween card’s envelope, too.
Which brand booklet are those from and is there any title, edition etc. of it? Thx,
Those one are similar Californian ones, but only similar:

Could you try Missouri? Thanks!

The Circle 8 is on pg 269 of the 1962 Colorado Brand Book and is from Helen Roper Brown
The Halloween symbol that most closely matches is from pg 339 of the 1938 Colorado Brand Book and is from Otto Kuehster
Could you try Missouri? Thanks!
I can look, but not sure how many of those are available.
It also seems there is an association with some of the characteristics of the brands to different areas, such as Utah brands tend to use more "." in them, or dots.
