I have a simple idea for the My Name Is cipher. It does not involve homophonic substitution, nor some other complicated scheme.

It’s based on one idea: what if the (8) symbol means “apply a minor visual transformation to the letter right after this symbol”?

Then we can write the cipher as:

AENz8K8M8tNAM

If we split K into I< and rotate the < part of the K, then we can get VI. If we rotate M, we can get E. If we rotate t, we can get T.

This leads to:

AENzVIETNAM

I don’t have an explanation for the AEN letters. Maybe these are Z’s initials. Maybe not. But what if he’s giving us a hint that he fought in the Vietnam war, which spanned from 1961-1975? Plausible?

Is it possible Zodiac was giving us a hint that he had some relationship to Vietnam? Is it possible that’s why he was wearing Wingwalkers?
