Zodiac 340 Solution Part 1
This is how the letters appeared without me moving any around.

D E A V I T I S I H O A S P E N W
Y U A H A Y R I S E E I N S U S T
S H L I A O C F R H E B E A S T S
T G E T L T M A I N G E T M L I I
T T O H O I T I N K I A F A W I O
C O T R A N A N I P O T E T H V O
I L D R E S A F T E B O B A U S E
I S O A S S

The first way I chose to read it was like this. This is the one I prefer.Myref.dc5h90aed0

D E A V/ IT / IS /I / H O A S/ P E N/W
Y U A H A Y R /I/ SEE/ IN/ S /US/ T
S H L I A O C F R H E /B E A S T S/
T/ G E T/ L T/ M A I N/ G E T/ M L I I
T/ T O H/ O/ I T/ I N K/ I A F A W I O
C O T/ R A N/ A/ N I/ P O T/ E T H V O
A S/ S H E/ A /D O N N T/ H E M/ M T H C
I L/ D R E S/ A F T E /B O B/ A U S E
/I S/ O /A S S/

IT IS I PEN
I SEE IN US BEASTS
GET MAIN GET
HOT INK RAN IN POT
SHE DONT HEM DRES
BOB IS ASS

Another way to read it. MyRef.picture/image photo 8
IT IS I PEN
RISE IN US BEASTS
GET MANGE GET IT
HOT INK RAN IN POT
SHE DONNA THE CHILD
BOB IS ASS

Also some of it could be read as,

POTHEAD/ or HEADON THE/ or CHILD ABUSE
I do not know if these are any terms from books or plays or the Bible. The “ ink pot” is mentioned in The Book of Revelations.

Maybe someone has some ideas?
Michelle

First let me say, this response is not meant to be construed as negative towards yours or anyone’s cipher
solution. (Personally, i think the 340 is a ruse).

My question is, why would anyone create a cipher and presumably a key yielding a solution that is so ambiguous? What would be the point?

That is a good question. If we are talking about a killer with an (average amount of intelligence)I do not think he would have been able to pull it off.

If we are talking about a person with a (high level of intelligence)he could have pulled it off by putting a cipher out there that could not be solved. But—- (being cunning and thinking he was humorous) chose too put the answer (yes, very obviously–in plane site). This is what I would have done.

Yes, another idea, after seeing some of the other posts and working through the process– (Even I) just may buy into a hoax theory on a large scale.

Lastly–I do not have all the answers.

I began my research with the question "What would I do If I were the Zodiac?" and that eventually led me to the Dear Melvin Letter.

I know my ideas are off the beaten path.I am not embarrassed by them.I beleive with the exception of the binary numbers and morse code—-my (solution is very strong and simple).

I appreciate your question and wish I did have all the answers.

Using the + sign symbols in the order that they are placed—-this is what showed up.

Using all the symbols that were round–in the order they were placed—this is what I came up with.

Just a note: I left out the word (ego) by mistake on the image (it is below "go") You reminded me Blindbat.Thank You!

It’s a "Cook Book"
That’s what she said in the movie,
where Zodiac got this idea from.

Meaning, the 340 encrypted might be ‘worthless’ too.
Just like the encrypted cook book was.

In the movie, the Navy tried to interpret the
cook book too, just like the Zodiac 340.
The movie was before the Zodiac.

Perhaps some people have been duped, or led
down a blind alley.
I think all can testify to the fact that Zodiac
was notorious for (blind alleys) playing the
Judas goat!

Under…
The Twilight Zone!
Just one of the Zodiacs favorite serials.

Please note, the Zodiac was an original like a
first day of issue stamp used by the post office.

That’s all he is, (a stamp)
The works inside the envelopes were created
by other (writers and film producers)
like (RH) Roy Huggins, etc., and not by
the Zodiac himself!

Known as a copy cat or just a down right
plagiarist.

I would like to insert the short word, (EGO)
into the Zodiacs profile!

Good "bmichelle" :)

I just posted two photos under the title,
The Zodiacs Secret
Have you seen these too, and just forgot
to file them in your author file?

Blind Bat–I looked at the images and using my favorite word I do find them (interesting).

I do not dismiss them as having value. In those days there were (only a few) television channels to watch–unlike the endless amount of channels of today.

Thank you, bmichelle. :)

Some here have ask if I’m a troll…
Laughable!

I’ve never seen a troll as of to-date post facts,
questions and photos for law-enforcement,
the press and the public to examine with fresh
eyes!

Do you personally think the Zodiac was fool
enough to have showed his face on Oct. 30 th
in the RCC library that fateful night, knowing he
could have been recognized by his fellow
classmates?

This would mean he was hiding outside
in ambush for her if not.

He lied about being inside?

PS, have you seen the movie,
‘Reefer Madness’

Words and phrases from this movie
are in the confession letter!
If you look it up, you’ll find the blurb
the Zodiac used in the confession letter!

People are influenced by their environment no doubt, but that sort of thing was not exclusive to Zodiac.

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

Reading skills!
Key word I used in my post to bmichelle,
(BLURB)

Key words from that (BLURB) the Zodiac
wrote in the confession letter!

You have that blurb, right?

Not everyone understands literature
and knows the writers vocabulary!
The Zodiac did… That’s why he was smarter and
out smarted LE, the press and the public.

Words rightly spoken are like apples of gold
in platters of silver.
