Hi-
Last year I approached a crypto guy from Norway to see if the 340 may have been encoded from Norwegian. I hope my reasons for doing that are now obvious. I felt that this might have been the reason why it was never broken. Anyway, this guy became so interested in the 340 that he wrote a paper on it that was published in a journal. Here is the link:
