The scratched out K in the 340 lines up exactly with the only X (backward J) in the decoded 408 when mirrored and aligned to the bottom.

When the 340 is aligned to the middle of the 408 we see that BOO inverts exactly on AUG 27 the 239th day.

We also have the TJK columns that were surrounding may 22 transposing to the marked out K.

Note how the TJK columns mirror themselves after transposing.

The Boo mirrored on AUG 27 also aligns with the pivots of the 340

Notice also how the J I and half filled square symbols show up in the other pivot leg after transposition.

If we put the second group first, the p19 BOO lands on the X (backward J) of the 408

On page 3 of the bus bomb letters we see that a circle with TEDs birthday angle shows up along with “ted”

Old posts on my other username show this same 140 degree thing being used multiple times in letters.

-The “boxes with a dot” symbols make a 13×22 box with a box in the middle that says “box”.

-All of the + symbols fit into this box and the endpoints invert.

-The third + lands on Teds birthday May 22 the 142nd day.

If you want to explore any of these ideas yourself, it seems that zodiac was using 3 square per inch or (1/3″) graphing paper as the basis for all of this. This specific graph paper also aligns with text in the many written letters and provides an easy scale point to match sizes between the letters.

What made Zodiac choose the p19 transposition scheme for the 340 cipher?

Maybe he just wrote his name into the grid of the 408 and noticed something…
