I think the readers can see what’s happening here.
Helpful summary. You were at least listening. 👍
Just curious, if evidence were recovered in this 100 foot triangle that points north, matches the triangle that is repeated in the ciphertext, points north, and is in short walking proximity to the same road as the first Zodiac crime scene, would you still claim this proposed solution is wrong, because you just don’t like that it includes the word RADIANS?
That was your original objection, from what I recall.

It seems your approach to this cipher is to ignore the obvious clues. I don’t think that is the right way to tackle it.

He only wrote 10 words in that post script, two of them are RADIANS.
For good measure, he literally draws a unit circle in a polar coordinate system, just to make everything a bit more obvious. You can say that is the Zodiac brand watch logo, if you’d like. Fine by me.

Just as he repeats the triangle symbol in the cipher, he repeats the word radians in the post script. I don’t know if it is intentional, but I do know that is a fact.

Hello @Coder1987,
First of all, I want to sincerely thank you for your attention to my little post from five years ago and for your kind words 😊!
I’m also very happy to see that both approaches finally converge on the same solution, on Lake Hermann Road (“IN THREE AND THREE EIGHTHS RADIANS TEN”). And it’s true that this triangular sector is intriguing, to say the least! The work you’ve done and the time you’ve dedicated to it are truly impressive!
For my parts, five years later, I confess I’m not quite sure what to think about the Z32 cipher anymore. What I’m about to say is entirely subjective: I don’t have any definitive proof and I’m not trying to convince anyone. But I have a feeling that, if the Zodiac Killer communicated a lot after the murders, I think it was only to draw attention to himself (when people were starting to forget about him) or make fun of the police. In short, I’m not sure there was ever a bomb outside of Zodiac’s mind, and even less that he buried it somewhere.
That’s why I still have a slight preference for another solution, “IN FOUR AND A QUARTER RADIANS EIGHT TEN,” which points to Alcatraz Island: it would be consistent with a morbid joke by the Zodiac…
But, despite this entirely subjective preference, I can’t prove anything, and the first solution on Lake Hermann Road remains entirely relevant: a big thank you in any case for your work and for continuing to move the case forward!
Finally you have arrived. If you would like to talk privately about this, my email is in the paper.
You did great work a long time ago. I am curious, do you still have the code you used for the projections? If so, it is valuable I think. Your method is clearly laid out in your post, and I think you essentially nailed it. Well done and I am glad to see you here.

Another interesting thing I’ve noticed in the past few weeks is that new proposed solutions to Z32 continue to appear, including this one from a week ago:

Perhaps they are right, and I am wrong.

If it is verified, I will be glad that others can stop wasting time on Z32. That will be a public service. There will be little point to trying anything involving radians and inches, as they have practically all been tested. If you use radians in the technically correct manner for the projection, you have disregarded the post script explicit instruction, and the clock hours hint. It needs to be modeled as he instructed.

Since he can’t ban me here, the forum administrator has this plastered on his front page:
“I was a psychiatric nurse in the Bay Area during the time of the Zodiac murders. A patient was admitted to our hospital who many of us came to believe was the Zodiac killer. There were no murders during the time he was hospitalized. There was a murder one night when he was out on an unescorted pass. He later committed suicide by throwing himself in front of a train. There were no more Zodiac killings reported after his death. At the time, confidentiality laws prevented us from reporting our suspicions to the police or FBI. He was a very ordinary appearing man who wore black rimmed glasses and looked like an accountant if you will. Please keep my e-mail address confidential.”
I don’t know why psychiatric nurses are reaching out to internet forum administrators saying their patients might be the Zodiac. This is weird to me, and I don’t like it, just like the tip line. Feels wrong to me, so I express it.
Beneath this we have a paypal link soliciting donations “Support Responsible Zodiac Research and Investigation 🔍”.
Needless to say I won’t be donating via PayPal. I don’t think it is responsible research, based on what I’ve seen. It was annoying to have the admin demand I pay him 10 dollars multiple times when trying to share this work for free.

Seems a new user on the Zodiac forums just proposed a new solution to Z32 as well.
It is interesting but I would hope to see a landmark on the ground. Even better if it matches one of the symbols in the ciphertext and is near a location associated with the Zodiac case.
I will admit I didn’t realize the Omega sign holds the jewel, but maybe they are right. I think the repeated triangle symbol holds the jewel because that is what is on the ground.
It has been interesting to see new Z32’s roll in.

Perhaps going the forum route on sharing the work wasn’t the right approach, in hindsight. These forums have virtually no activity in 2026. The Zodiac Killer forums have an admin that points to another city for the Death Machine, and doesn’t seem to think Z32 is even solvable.
To reach a broader audience, Youtube seems to be the best bet, since this has a visual component. Content creation is much harder than people think. I was hoping the code and whitepaper would be good enough, but it seems the challenge is now just getting it out there for people to see. It is tough as forum users tend to say the triangle was made for the cows, thus the proposed solution is wrong.

Quite frankly, I believe I have pointed to a location with this cipher that presents the greatest opportunity to POSSIBLY recovering physical evidence in this case. That potential seems to be entirely overlooked on the Zodiac forums. They would prefer to come up with excuses as to why this location should not be checked (violating the privacy of the cows).
Cost-benefit analysis is pretty favorable that it is worth a scan, which takes less than 1 hour and only requires one person.

The potential evidence recovery is far more impactful in the real world than a confirmed plaintext. It just so happens that the radar test can accomplish both (maybe), for a low, low cost.
To me, it is a no brainer to do the scientific test to know what is true or false.

Had created a Reddit account to share the code/paper with that Zodiac community early on. Admin said nope, your account is too new. Can’t share your work. Meanwhile, a quick glance over there today, new suspects are still being generated and shared.

I’ve censored their name, and also bet 10 dollars this “POI” is not the Zodiac.
It really hasn’t been a great experience. Had a great time working with the cipher, however. Finding that triangle was a moment I will not forget, regardless of the forum reception.

Reddit mods using account age as a falsification of the methodology is a weird part of all of this, but it was a thing that happened, and so it gets mentioned. Very odd predicament since December. Marketing plans work better than whitepapers. Sad but true.
Most will be lost as soon as they read Constraint Satisfaction Problem. The framework is extremely useful and general purpose. This is one of many domains where it shines. If verified it only further proves their utility, which is already known.
I have to adjust the messaging and presentation for the average person. Easier said than done.

There are some Zodiac theorists that have professed Zodiac never buried anything. They will be naturally against anything that suggests otherwise, even a big landmark by LHR that matches the ciphertext symbol. I realize it could invalidate some past theories from others. But I see that as a good thing.
Not stating anything with certainty, I am stating it with uncertainty.
The paper correctly concludes that GPR is required for verification. I feel good about my contribution and conclusion. It isn’t given in a Netflix series or purchasable book, but free and open source code and reading material which makes an honest attempt at being objective. If it is verified I will translate it into Spanish and French for accessibility.
I really do like the method, while acknowledging I will have a natural bias towards liking it. But, it utilizes all of Zodiac’s clues in the modeling. Even the map scale is important and must be respected here.
The odds of this unfolding the way it did are extremely low. I had realized this quickly. Still, it has faced significant resistance that was unexpected but has added another layer to the Z32 challenge.
