There had to be some right.
With the zodiac driving different cars and thought to be a car buff (I do to)
something that happened in my town back in the mid 70’s to early 80’s came to mind .
Our dump was there since I was very young, maybe since the fifties, forties?
Just of the main drag some times they hauled away some tires but the main stack was always there around 30ft high in some places . it was said it contained 1/4 million tires. People living around it wanted it gone siting a eye sore and bred mosquitoes .
Around 1980 there was a big fight on both sides getting rid of it . the owner lost, but of course did not have money to clean it up The county was going to start hauling them out , but it caught fire one summer night .. odd as it never had before.
The fire dept. tried to extingish it, but gave up and it burned for months . When the tires were removed they kept finding human skeleton remains think it was 1/2 dozen + some thought as many as 12-15

Was the owner charged with anything in relation to the skeletons that were discovered?

Was there an investigation into the remains?

Curious

I guess there was I read the article in a paper about it .
This was off 50 hiway & Arlinton St. in Raytown MO … now it is a big lawn of a rest home
It was maybe 2 acres I thought it said the owner was in his 80’s then . But it was only a fenced lot with a small garage like building
Seems like it was set on fire but maybe not the person who put the body’s there. When the city won the right to clean it up , it was goiing to cost a staggering amount and nothing happened ,they tried a bonds vote , but it failed
Kinda remember It did catch fire once before the big fire though but they used a back hoe to separate it before it spread .
I think they thought the remains were decades old like 50’s- 60’s era and kind of gave up ,DNA hadn’t happened yet

I tried out for a job at a newspaper throwing company near there in 72, I was 13 and it smelled like a dead animal
I gave up working there after 3 times(,parents were never going to let me do it anyway) late one day ( 4;30 am) the fat guy that manage it said he would throw me on the tire pile if I was late again .

My point of posting it was that it was such a large and difficult place to try to search that Z could have used it to dispose of victims.

There was a garbage dump off Columbus Parkway near where it intersects Benicia Road. It is long gone and covered with houses now! I just looked at a map and Lake Herman is just to the east of where the garbage dump used to be.
