I believe one could substitute the commonly encountered Northern California species of the family Corvidae for the gulls. I hate to see gulls targeted as soup, stew, or casserole fodder. Most notably, crows, ravens, scrub jays, and Steller’s jays go well with the Italian panoply of herbs and spices. However, I would check all applicable game laws first. And really, leave the crows and raven alone, because they are like winged dogs in many respects. And before bringing up West Nile, remember two things: There are no documented instances of humans contracting West Nile from contact with corvids, and at any rate, cooking thoroughly will make it safe.

Perhaps this thread was mis-named and maybe should have been in the Chat topic but cut him some slack. Honestly, this is no more off track that a lot of other things that are presented.
