Zodiac’s apparent referencing of a Tim Holt comic book in his 1970 Halloween card suggests the killer had an interest in comics and pulp fiction, from which he may have constructed his supervillain-style persona. viewtopic.php?f=63&t=1275

Investigations (by Cragle) have brought my attention to a popular pulp comic, The Phantom Detective, published from 1933 to 1953. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Phantom_Detective

The Phantom Detective is a wealthy, cultured aristocrat turned masked vigilante. He is summoned by a building that emits a red signal. Red Phantom.
