Hi-
Does anyone recall what part of SF they said Z lived in? LOL, I have to squint at those postmarks.

If I remember correctly it was the Richmond District. However that could be just where they were processed?
A1 on the postmarks?
LOL. The Richmond District is Inner, Central and Outer from Arguello to the ocean. It is huge! Was he more specific?

A .22 is very adequate for killing most anything. Slaughter houses use to fire 22’s in animals to put them down. Some of these animals are over 1,000 pounds. Also, a 22 usually will stay within the body and ricochet around and this can cause quite a bit of damage. I would argue that if a person knew a lot about ammo/guns then only a sharpshooter would use a 22. I say this because when using a 22, bullet placement is the most important thing. Doesn’t matter how large or small the caliber is, if someone gets shot in the right place then they will not survive. One of the quickest places happens to be just behind the ear (pretty much exactly where David was shot). If you’re a great marksman, any caliber will do the job.
Also, a 22 is MUCH quieter than large rounds. It’s a much better chance to fire 22 rounds and no one actually hear them (you might even have a tough time hearing it if you were passing by in a vehicle). Not to mention that 22 pistols are usually smaller and much easier to conceal. Plus, its the most common/easily accessible round (this has changed in the past few years over the fear of the 2nd Amendment being altered but not in the 60’s). There is also a better chance of not getting a ballistics match from a 22 that ricochets around within a body.
So, I can’t really see any logical reason to conclude that someone isn’t/wasn’t a hunter or a knowledgeable weapons person based on the ammo caliber.
