So a story just came up today on someone I had not heard of and they are claiming he is definitely the Zodiac…..anyone know any more on this?

The Case Breakers is now saying it has identified the Zodiac Killer as Gary Francis Poste, who passed away in 2018. The team’s years of digging uncovered new forensic evidence and photos from Poste’s darkroom. One image features scars on the forehead of Poste that match scars on a sketch of the Zodiac, the team said.
Other clues include deciphering letters sent by the Zodiac that revealed him as the killer, said Jen Bucholtz, a former Army counterintelligence agent who works on cold cases. In one note, the letters of Poste’s full name were removed to reveal an alternate message, she told Fox News.
“So you’ve got to know Gary’s full name in order to decipher these anagrams,” Bucholtz said. “I just don’t think there’s any other way anybody would have figured it out.”
The team believes Poste also killed Cheri Jo Bates on Oct. 31, 1966, in Riverside, Calif., hundreds of miles south from the San Francisco area and two years before the first killing linked to the Zodiac occurred. Bates, 18, was found dead in an alleyway on the Riverside City College campus after her father phoned police to report her missing. “

Another case of allowing the suspect to govern the conclusions rather than the evidence. You can manipulate virtually any name into these remaining ciphers if you look long enough. The fact we have 100+ names shoehorned into the Z13, shows exactly how unreliable this type of reasoning is. If these are specialists using this kind of loose circumstantial evidence, I would suggest redefining the word specialist.

A reporter named Dale Julin extracted Gary Francis Poste’s name from multiple Zodiac letters, using anagramming. He’s been hell-bent on this stuff for years. In fact, he cold called me recently because he wanted to know how to send his “evidence” to the FBI.
I guess he and his supporters have been sending this stuff around, and finally Fox News took the bait.

This shenanigans doesn’t inspire confidence at all, but guess its good clickbait for Fox. Riverside certainly aren’t entertaining them.
I really think GFP might be the guy. The investigation sounds extremely credible and I doubt all the media outlets would have simultaneously broken the news otherwise.

Apparently they found a photo of Poste wearing a Lake Berryessa-style hood and will be searching for a buried cache of guns.
From their press release. While in the Air Force (wing walkers), Poste suffered brain injuries from a car crash in which the other passenger died. It seems that he was a gun enthusiast and led a Charles Manson-style cult in the wilderness.
