Buffalo Bill was a showman. Wild Bill Hickok was an US Army scout and one of the best marksmen of the Old West. He used revolvers chambered in .36 cal Navy. That is the present day .38 special or .357 mag caliber. It is ballistically a very excellent round.
Zodiac used 9mm and .38 special handguns on the rest of his killings. He discovered the .22 cal is very underpowered I would imagine. The first time he used a gun was the first murder in 1968. After that he got hi powered calibers more suited for the tasks at hand.
yes, I would see how that is much better choice. Get the job done faster so not popping lead all over the place.
I have not even shot any guns in awhile, I need to go out to the firing range and practice. but I certainly know what you mean about him needing better guns.
I hate the firing range though, it’s so noisy out there. I’m more in to Peace and Quiet. This case can make a person crazy. Think I will go to sleep. Think about things tomorrow.
Peace out.

Zodiac used a .22 at LHR, a 9mm at BRS and with Stine so I have never seen or heard of a .38 caliber being associated with Zodiac. If you can link to where you found that information it would be great.
I don’t think LHR was his first murder, I’ll always believe Domingo/Edwards were early Zodiac work. He used a .22 there, also with the Swindells if you think they are Zodiac attacks as well. So the .22 had a pretty good track record at killing people. It’s actually a very deadly weapon.

The police initially thought they’d recovered a. 38 at the LHR scene, but later concluded that it was actually a badly mangled. 22 – this might be what he’s referring to.
It’s been discussed many times over the years, not least in connection with "hoax" and "team Z" theories.
Bottom line, though: as far as we know, he used a. 22 for the LHR attack, nothing else.

Yes, I read it years ago. Anybody with any basic knowledge of handguns knows that .38 spl is considered by many gun enthusiasts to be the minimum effective handgun cartridge
for self defense or combat situations.
The Zodiac was very sloppy and used the wrong gun to do his dirty deeds. A .22 pistol is not the weapon of choice for these matters. I know all about .22 pistols and I know enough about them that I know that caliber is a very poor choice. He left live victims which is not good. From the Zodiac’s point of view anyways.

I read it years ago and it stuck in my memory.
Zodiac wrote he used a .38, but there was never any proof he did.
What happened to the audio recordings of Colliver? And what about the film canisters that had the "Zodiac symbol" drawn on them?
I just started reading the very long Colliver thread and didn’t feel like reading all 122 pages.
A few minutes ago on a toilet not very far, far away….

Hi, I have several of the audio clips on my blog at http://www.relentless1.net/zodiac .
I have the remaining developed films being processed to digital now and will post a link when I receive them back.
That long Colliver thread goes to shit at the end and unfortunately it was locked by the admins here. So its read only and no one can discuss him here under that thread. I will start a new thread once I have more info. I am currently speaking with his daughter and trying to encourage her to do a DNA test. She’s sharing a lot of information with me that I didn’t already know about her family. More details about her mother Nancy, her cousin Linda, her Uncle Ray, and step father Walter Edward Bearden (Wally) Alcatraz inmate #62.
Thanks for your interest.
Did you ever get a look at those tattoos?
I’m pretty sure Zodiac always had his arms covered.
Yes, he had a lion, rocky and bull winkle and I think there was also a bull.
Here is a folder I hadn’t shared with anyone yet. I didn’t see any connection to anything myself but maybe there’s something I cannot see that someone may find interesting.
