Hi,
Yes, Harvey’s step father was Edward E. Marshall. He owned and operated the Marshall Shingle Company in Oakland, California. Harvey was employed by the Marshall Shingle Company in February 1953 for an unknown length of time. You will find proof of this information here: https://relentless1.net/2020/08/24/mars … alifornia/

Didn’t that place burn down? Or am I thinking of something else?

Thank you Relentless,

Edward E Marshall
Born 9 apr 1920
31 dec 1997
Cemetery address: 22495 Van Buren Boulevard Riverside, CA 92518.

Mr Marshall or Sargent Marshall was a WW2 veteran, is it noteworthy he was buried in Riverside? Or is this normal for a sergeant?

Yes, it caught fire in 1956. Twice in one day. The second of the two fires was considered suspicious. Perhaps a disgruntled ex employee decided to torch the place? I’m unsure of the length of time Harvey worked there.

I don’t think that is the right person you found named Edward E. Marshall? I have the newspaper clipping of his obituary and its dated September 5, 1962. Check out that link above. It goes to the 2 articles I found on newspapers.com relating to this subject. It also has a timeline for this same period. I post it that way since I can never upload any files here. They’re always too large.

That was my concern, Yes the name is Edward E Marshall, it’s possibly a coincidence. I did read the article and I see what you mean I still need to cross reference, I’ll post what I have soon.

That was stupid of myself, major oversight, I guess that’s why I can’t find him with Lucille in the mid 60’s :D

One of the reasons I’m hesitant to post Lucille’s details in the 60’s is because I couldn’t find Edward residing at the same location after 58, my focus has been on him to verify everything.

Edward Marshall the one of interest clearly died in 62.

Name: Lucille Marshall
Residence Year: 1956
Street address: 1627-llth TWinoks 37231
Residence Place: Oakland, California, USA
Publication Title: Oakland, California, City Directory, 1956

There seems to be two Lucille M Marshall’s in California on the dates in question,
One, Harvey’s mother in Oakland area (and another location easily found on one of Harvey’s letters )
And another Lucille M Marshall in Riverside (of all the places  )

Easy mistake, ill post more on Harvey’s mother to now try and dismiss the Riverside thing.

Ancestry.com is better than Ged and 23andme

So this is the Woman who I have made so much confusion over, It is this woman’s spouse which rules out Harvey’s mother and this south California theme.

Name: Lucille M Marshall
Gender: Female
Residence Year: 1968
Residence Place: San Diego, San Diego, California, USA
Spouse: Wid Morris Marshall
Publication Title: San Diego, California, City Directory, 1968

This sort of thing really does not help, A Lucille Marshall in Downey being a office manager for "life shade awning Co LB" it is the line of work that i would figure Lucille might undertake given her marriage to Edward Marshall who seemingly specialized in roofing only years prior.

Name: Mrs Lucille Marshall
Gender: Female
Residence Year: 1965
Street address: 12280 S Gneiss Av Dny 869-0075 r office manager Life Shade Awning Co LB
Residence Place: Downey, California, USA
Publication Title: Downey, City Directory, 1965

I cant make sense of it all, this Lucille Marshall seems to be the same one that resided in Riverside and Beaumont Riverside.

These are the same person. She was Fratinardo and Colliver and Marshall. And a couple of other names as well. I don’t know if it was normal for a person to have so many different aliases back in those days but that fact alone seem suspicious to me. She changed from Lucille to Lucy to Helen to Mary and married I’m not sure how many different times? I can understand how you can get other people mixed up in this.

Im glad you said that, Lucille seemingly goes by a few variants of her own name for whatever reason, it is confusing, is this normal?

Lucille is certainly interesting in this regards, I am having great difficulties tracing her after Edwards passing, I don’t believe she is being intentionally evasive but rather fudging social security documents etc.

Oddly after Edwards death 62-70’s i find variants of Lucille Marshall showing up in random locations, San Luis Obpiso most notably in 1965, And i recall seeing many of phone calls from Harvey who was in Santa Maria to this area in 1965.

And also, She shows up in Santa Rosa in the 70’s but if my memory serves me right she Resided in San Rafael around this time.

I should point out for everyone else the importance of Lucille in Harvey’s life should not be understated. I think they were very close, some would say too close  .

Tracing Lucille is very important as proximity and repeated proximity is the key for a case like this.

No, it’s not normal for one person to change their name as much as she did. Is there any other reason for someone to change their name multiple times in their life other than doing it to avoid the consequences of their actions?

I think I’ve taken this avenue as far as I can.

Even if Lucille was in Riverside in 66 it would be met with the usual silence.

Harvey Marshall, teacher, San Luis Obispo, 1964.
