Now here’s an interesting find.
After viewing this Office Photo of Herb Caen –
Google Lens appeared and Google Lens listed items in this photo belonging to Herb Caen.
Among them is the Loyal Royal Typewriter, a United States Marines Combat Bag, a German Medical Kit Bag, and — A Soviet Cipher Cryptograph Machine. You can drop this image into Google Lens and try it for yourself, it lists the items in search view.
So Herb Caen having a Cipher Machine somewhere in his office, if Google Lens is accurate, is alarming? Is it not??? It’s hard to make out where it’s located, but Google Lens detected that item. https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/soviet-125-fialka-cipher-cryptograph-1885044743
So it could possibly be under all of that junk in his office out of plain sight.
Pretty odd that Caen is showing owning a Loyal Royal Typewriter and a Cipher Coding Machine.
Please use Google Lens on this picture and scroll down past the bags and you’ll find the Cipher Machine.
Odd to say the least…
Did anyone think there was a chance that Bill Cosby would turn out to be a sexual predator drugging women — hiding behind his celebrity?
Most likely not. Tom Voight would have said, JOKING???
What makes Herb Caen any different in being the Zodiac Killer? Caen was a narcissist if there ever was one.
If you watch Charlie Chan At Treasure Island, this is a perfect example of someone creating a full-on disguise that you wouldn’t recognize, even if it was the president staring you in the face.
Visual Appearance can not rule ANY suspect out. — Including height/weight.
This picture of Caen with Cosby doesn’t prove anything, but I thought it was worth a share.
Interesting how Caen looked around the same age as the Golden State Killer, who was also never interviewed or even a suspect for 40 years.
An older picture of Caen wearing sunglasses inside with grey hair in the rear.

When using Google Lens on a Herb Caen Office photo, we get three hits of The Golden State Killer’s trophy collection desk. Only occurs when you have the map included in the back, but still interesting to see.

In Herb Caen’s last column he mentions a safety deposit box in a bank and the film “The Prisoner Of Zenda”.
The Fouke sketch looks like Herb Caen, this cannot be denied.
Herb Caen had dark receding hair with a widow’s peak, as described by Fouke.
So the police thought it was someone who lived in SF and worked at the newspaper, yet they seem to have turned a blind eye to the exact suspect matching that profile, Celebrity Gossip Columnist Herb Caen.
Caen’s writing in 1967 compared to Z’s Exorcist letter, which is the letter Z seemed to have cleaner handwriting.
Here’s a side by side with no glasses, almost identical to Herb Caen’s face.
Never mind everything else, why does Herb Caen seem to match exactly the witness picture, including hair?
Another example of Caen using Z lingo, including misspelling Daughter — at an intersection, I can only guess a bus stop.
It’s just overlap, but enough of them start to look strange.
I’d love to know if SFPD actually ever interviewed Caen in the ’70s.
If anyone knows, please do share.
An Estate Lot that showcases a gift book Herb Caen gave to a friend called True Tiny Tales of Terror with a letter attached.

Here is an article, written by Herb Caen in 1995 that eerily directly matches with the Zodiac Pines Card sent connecting Lake Tahoe.
Writing this 25 years later would make sense since so much time had passed in the killings.
