So the first part starts out as Herb C and from bottom up again Herb C now Look at the last letters at the end they spell KAYN. He was trying to give his name. also makes sense that the first 3 letters of the 340 cipher is HER and the first 3 letter of the my name is AEN. Either the zodiac was obsessed with Herb Caen or it was Herb Caen.
He stopped announcing his murders after Stine because he had already spelt out his name. Or the name he was obsessed with anyways.
Thats just my theory.

Or his last name was Kane/Kay, which are two last names used by suspect Larry Kane.
There’s enough letters in these words to make up dozens of different combinations. And since letter skipping is arbitrary, why not employ some other arbitrary method, then you’d have many thousands more possible solutions. The best part is your solution is still incomplete. I think it’s good you’re having a go, no doubt there are other hidden messages in the Zodiacs letters, but this aint one of them. Or at least if it is it’s no more verifiable than random noise.
