According to Jim Owen, he saw 2 cars parked side by side, but after studying the police drawings of the scene, it doesn’t make sense to me that where Jensen fell, that she would not have been run over as the killer backed out if he had parked to the right of the rambler. Had anyone else noticed this? Considering Jensen was not run over, it seems more realistic that the killer either parked behind them or in some other spot. Was Owen lying, or mistaken about this point?
Aside from the way her body was found (head towards the rambler) that is also weird she would fall backwards while running away and taking shots in the back. The coroner photos appear to show her with scraped up knees, consistent with falling forward with her head away from the Rambler.
These 2 points really bother me. Anyone else have thoughts here, or can make a little sense of these things?
I took the video images by KRON-TV and meshed them together to show where David was found on the turnout floor in respect to the Rambler. Betty Lou was discovered right on the western edge by the roadside, so there was ample room for Zodiac to back out.
Betty Lou was probably not running at the end of her flight for freedom, so likely buckled at the knees and fell backwards.

I suppose it makes sense that he could maneuver around her body, it just seems with it being so dark out, and him being in such a hurry to flee towards Benicia, that he would have the frame of mind to be aware of where her body was and avoid running her over.

That sketch isn’t accurate anyway Nick. The Rambler is further into the turnout, away from the eastern edge. Her body is further west. I would only use these sketches as a rough guide.
