That’s a match, certainly. But is there any reason to think they went in that number on purpose, so to speak? Did they operate as a group of fourteen otherwise, thus making it more unlikely that it just happened to be fourteen – rather than twelve or sixteen – who happened to go together on that particular trip?

I’m a bit unclear as to what significance you attach to this.

I appreciate your efforts in researching this material – it’s impressive and you’re clearly a dedicated researcher. So, I sincerely hope you don’t take this the wrong way. But numerary synchronisms are bound to be, well, numerous – in practically all contexts. They can’t all be relevant. And if it’s JUST in the numbers, without anything added, it’s hard to see what relevance it has.

Again, please don’t take this as a slight on your efforts – it really isn’t. I find much of what you share here interesting reading. But many things are interesting in a general sort of way – and this is, after all, a specific thread seemingly exploring a specific connection between the Zodiac killer and the Process Church, right?

I would agree, I think the 14 refers to the 14th victim and/or the 3 fingers and the "14" combine to make 3.14, which is the start of Pi. The math concept of Pi could certainly be a clue to mathematics professor Ted Kaczynski, who did his thesis on circles, or the radian obsessed Gareth Penn. And 3/14, March 14, is Gaikowski’s birthday.

In general I think the strongest evidence shows Zodiac was one man. One man who did the killings, wrote the letters and made the codes. To me a lot of evidence points to this, including the writing on the car at LB. So I have personally always tended not to favor group theories, be they pointed at the Manson Family and/or occult groups.

Also it is true That Z put some odd and creepy touches on his work – the possible Norse Runes on the HC, the skeleton, etc. But other than the name Zodiac, there does not seem to be any tie in to astrology. And I don’t find any explicit Z references to occult or satanic activity. In other words, if Zodiac was an offshoot of the Manson Family and/or Process Church, IMO there would likely be more explicit references to their beliefs. More explicit references to Satan, Christ, race war, apocalypse, judgment, occultism, etc. Instead Z mainly seems obsessed with promoting himself, his codes, taunting police, etc.

On the other hand who knows for sure? The SF Bay Area in the late 60’s and early 70’s was a crazy mix of many groups and ideas – occult groups, radical political groups, the drug culture, the hippie movement, etc. I think it is good to explore what groups and ideas may have had an influence on Zodiac. In general I see Zodiac, with his emphasis on hunting and killing as a reaction against the dominant hippie peace and love vibe.

Aside from that I think the Process Church is fascinating to study in and of itself. It clearly had a major influence on Manson. And their imagery and ideas are interesting in their origination and evolution. Towards the end of his book Helter Skelter, Vincent Bugliosi talks about the Process Church and their connection to Manson. The other book I can recommend to Darla or anyone interested in them is called The Ultimate Evil by Maury Terry. Parts of the book are a little hyped (like most occult reporting) and I don’t find his idea of a nationwide connected Satanic cult convincing. But parts of the book are well researched and well written. There are some intriguing connections he makes.

In particular I am very interested in one case he looks at in detail, the October 1974 murder of Arlis Perry inside the Stanford Memorial Church. The murder had several possible occult clues and signatures. It happened almost 5 years to the day after the Stine murder, and 9 months to the day after someone claiming to be Zodiac had called in a threat to dump a murdered body in a church. And I just found out that her husband, Dr Bruce Perry, had as his academic advisor and mentor Dr. Seymour Levine, a man famous for rather cruel animal experimentation and behavioral theories that would have put him likely on the top of someone’s death list who hated those specific types of researchers (Ted K). Also, Arlis Perry’s car had apparently just suffered deflated tires, bringing to mind Johns and other car trouble ruse attacks Morf has looked at that might have been Zodiac.

Anyway, excellent and interesting research by Darla and others on both Process and Norse. I continue to follow with interest.

I have been researching the connections between zodiac, ear/ons and Ted Kaczynski. Over the last 6 months I have looked into the topic of MK Ultra and its connection with Ted Kaczynski (TJK) and the Zodiac case. The literature review shows that TJK was part of a conical MK Ultra interrogation experiment with one of the OSS’s heavy hitters, Dr. Henry Murray, when he was a student at Harvard. My initial thoughts after doing the literature review was TJK was a Manchurian candidate and a CIA assasin, and he does not remember being the Zodiac because he was under hypnosis at the time. In addition, I thought I would find some information that showed that the CIA used Ted, as a sleeper agent, and did so because the fear of the Zodiac Killer and then later the EAR/ONS scared the bay area into submission so that they would not protest the Vietnam War or decide to become communist in any way.

What I found was that the agents of the federal government including from the CIA and DEA were heavily entrenched in San Francisco and were committing crimes in the name of national security. For example they were dosing unwitting San Franciscans in the 1950’s through project Operation Midnight Climax. (They were luring johns into government safehouses and watching them, through one way mirrors, interact with prostitutes after having been drugged with LSD or BZ in weaponized doses.) During this same time period, massive money was been channeled into multiple California institutions to study mind control, through any means possible. These studies included massive LSD dosings, like Altamont. Some of the famous CIA agents that were part of MK-ULTRA were Timothy Leary, Tom Wolfe and Ken Kesey. The book The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test is about some of the MK-ULTRA work they did. In addition, I discovered that the entire LA music industry in the 1960’s, and the movie industry were part of MK Ultra, and still are today.

However, I did not make any real connections to Kaczynski, Zodiac or EAR/ONS until I came across an article on The Process Church and their connection with German Shepherds and Norse Mythology. In 1979, right before a series of ONS murders in Santa Barbara and Ventura, which have been connected by DNA, there was a number of dog incidents, dog stabbings, and spotting of people with German Shepherds. This relates to the Process Church in that the german shepherd was a sort of mascot.

In addition, the Process Church was committed to SS Occultism which included worship of Norse God Wodin (Odin). There are connections between Zodiac, EAR and TJK through their interest in Norse Mythology and Runes. I previously posted the "Punishment" page from the EAR investigation, this page seems to show Runes in the doodling that spell out Theo.

I found a connection to Montana and The Process in the research, as well. In 1970, James Schlosser was murdered around Roundup Montana by members of the process church who were later picked up in Big Sur, CA in the murder victim’s car. Also, Wayne Nathan Nance, was a serial killer from Montana and was a satan worshiper. He was in the Navy from 1974-1977 and was stationed first in Mare Island and then San Diego and Long Beach. He served on the USS Robison. In high school, in Missoula MT, he killed Donna Pound and left a revolver in her as part of a requirement join a satanic cult. (No one has ever found out what cult he was joining.)

I told you this insanity had to do with LSD. That guy must have made that stupid costume while he was flying. There were so many hippie communes around at that time it is likely he lived there. I believe he hung around Haight Ashbury st.too. Also, if you google serial killers who served in the military you will notice that almost every well known serial killer was in the service, and mostly army.
