I doubt they knew each other and it was Ross’s Brother Jon, not his Father, that lived in Berkeley. He did not live there during the Zodiac crimes, it was after. His other Brother Tim(the one who thought Ross was Zodiac)lived in SF

I suppose coming up with Zodiac teams is always a tricky proposition. The Zodiac case was long before selfies, facebook and social media, so it’s difficult to know if any of the Zodiac suspects ever met. I thought Richard Gaikowski and Arthur Leigh Allen could have partnered up because they were both about the same age, they both were college graduates and they both were veterans. I could imagine them meeting at the pancake house in Vallejo. With Kane and Sullivan it’s harder for me to see them getting together because of age differences. However, Kane could have been the mentor and the brains while Ross could have been the student and the muscles.

It is certainly food for thought.

I find it more believable that Gaikowski, a cultured journalist, knew Rick Marshall and Bob Vaughn through a shared interest in movies and silent film. Could ALA have known that trio?

Team Zodiac theories are interesting but inherently make speculation imprecise.

so if Ross and Kane knew each other and we now know Larry Lowe definitely knew Kane and Larry lived with donna lass and Kane knew Donna, and Ross knew Cheri Jo Bates we have an awful lot of murdered people and still living people who knew each other through just one degree of separation.

– no indication that Ross knew CJB
– no indication that Kane had anything to do with Z murders
– no indication that Z reloaded his gun at BRS
– no indication that Ross’s brother was married to a friend of CJB
– no indication that CJB was befriended to (whom btw?)
– no indication that anybody, ALA, Kane etc. had been acting as a ‘team’ (or had known each other)

We have a copy of the marriage license for Tim Sullivan (Ross’ brother) and Bonnie Bartlett.
Bonnie is in Cheri’s high school year book and IIRC they went to junior high together as well.

Ross even went to RCC from 1961 on, same college as CJB. Doesn’t mean they were friends, after all. Doesn’t mean he was her killer either.

IIRC there is a high school or Junior high year book photo of Cheri and Bonnie standing next to each other that seems to
indicate they were friendly with each other.

I think one of the moderators has Cheri’s brother’s e-mail address hopefully someone could e-mail him and ask if they were
friends and if Cheri went to San Francisco to attend Tim & Bonnie’s wedding.
