*This is intentionally contentious*
There is a continuous mistake being made and that is the consistent use of the term "Zodiac". It is a archaic, incorrect name that does not follow the standard concept of classifying serial homicide criminals according to a consistent organized/disorganized dichotomy.
The use of the word Zodiac and symbol by the criminal is not a confirmed consistent trait. The ONLY consistent known trait of the writer is the numerous confirmed letters to the San Francisco Chronicle which post dates the writers own use of the term zodiac and relating symbol.
This is a very important perspective given that this case is possibly involved the biggest collaboration between media organizations and law enforcement to catch a criminal in Americas history.
If we use the one consistent known aspect of the zodiac we get the name "SF Chronicle killer" and possibly a clearer picture of this unsolved mystery.
This is not about changing what we call the Zodiac, This is about the emphasis of exploring the only known consistency of this mystery.
Yes, dyslexia is probably my first undiagnosed language.
I’m not sure I follow what you are saying but even "SF Chronicle Killer" could be a misnomer since he sent letters to other newspapers and police departments, not just the Chronicle.
An early name for Zodiac was the Bay Area Code Killer. A name like BACK, or SFCK, definitely deprives him of mystique.
This sounds a bit like corporate buzzwording. We’re not professionals and in this case we know enough about the killer that we can at least be confidant in his chosen persona.
I think Simplicity is actually talking about finding a consistent pattern, not renaming Zodiac, but I’m not sure.
Curious is right,
To get to the point of why i made the post, it was made in the hopes others would view the case in this obvert way for the very good reasons stated above.
Maybe the Zodiac worked for the SF Chronicle? i think that’s a interesting avenue that hasn’t been looked at.
78% of "known" Zodiac letters were sent to the chronicle.
leaving a total of only 5 not to the SFC.
one of those 5 bemoaned about having his letters buried in the back pages of another paper (sf chronicle) whilst simultaneously giving Paul Avery a indirect accolade in regards to riverside.
I’m just saying something really stinks.

"Tell herb caen I am here, I have always been here. That city pig toschi is good ‘ but I am smarter and better he will get tired then leave me alone."
I guess Z might were well have been interviewed by Toschi, e.g. at the SF Chronicle’s office. It’d be interesting to know with whom Toschi had acutally spoken. He must have been very close (then leave me alone..).

I think the Zodiac definitely had a fascination with The Chronicle and why I believe he was from the city and not Vallejo or elsewhere. Another reason I like my POI since he lived around the corner of the Chronicle at the time of The Zodiac spree. Looking for someone that worked for the Chronicle at the time is a good idea. Of course looking into someone else besides Graysmith lol.

There’s a lot in a name, it produces a different view point.
Yes, dyslexia is probably my first undiagnosed language.
I’m just going to blurt freely,
>Paul Avery was married to a far-left woman, certainly far-left connections
>He was a civilian in Saigon, certainly gained military contacts.
>His entry into the SFC marked possibly the most turbulent period in the papers history.
>Patty Hearst kidnapping, zodiacs "SLA" letter, Paul Avery major journalist on the kidnapping.
>Paul "Avelry" receives a threatening letter from zodiac.
>Paul Receives a indirect accolade from the zodiac.
>Entire zodiac movie revolved around Paul Avery.
Tin foil hat level:
Paul Stines was the Zodiac.
(let’s not detract on this one)

Paul Avery is Zodiac ? Okay this is well at least a new theory and curious to hear more. No wonder nobody knows who Paul’s favorite Zodiac suspect he was investigating.
I like the Sidney Poitier was the Zodiac theory better.

ouch.
But playing the tin foil hat game.
The known Zodiac killings did end with the murder of Paul Stines, Maybe this is where the "SF Chronicle killer" begins his reign of error.
Not seriously suggesting the Paul Stines angle.

Paul Avery is not the Zodiac. He was still in Saigon at the time of the first two murders.

I don’t think he could done it alone without his friend and costar Bill Cosby. That is a good team Zodiac theory
