As regards the word "You’ll" , there’s a faint chance you might be able to correlate
what might be the lowest part of a letter from the (unseen) line above that word,
which is what we might be seeing when you look directly above the letter ‘u’ in the
word "You’ll" .
As regards the ‘whitespace’ between the word "You’ll" and "hate", possibly there
might be a rounded symbol seen as ‘bleedthrough’, if there is a line of printing
on the backside of that strip of pasted paper.
As regards the ‘whitespace’ just above the letters ‘h’ and ‘a’ in the word "hate",
possibly we might be seeing the ‘bleedthrough’ of a tall letter, if there is a line
of printing on the backside of that strip of pasted paper.
Well I’ve taken a moment out to look into Cynthia and I can’t find anything out on her. Maybe it’s not her per say. Maybe it’s the type of stuff she wrote about that was of interest to him like comics. Maybe it’s the newspaper. He was all about newspapers. Or maybe it was the editor. I’m fond of that given his earlier writings. I don’t know. I think your on the right track though.

I believe she was quite a famous actress from New York before she turned her hand to writing. She also seemed to do a lot of writing with Frances Ancker.

Wow! Love this thread. Looked into it a little and Frances Ancker was her mother. An article says that the family had moved from Philadelphia to NYC to seek fame and fortune. Cynthia became a model for John Robert Powers. She was mainly known as a leg model and short story writer. She also made hats and jewelry. Born about 1920.
This is the eight samples of ""You’ll Hate". I have resized the paper (Keeping the original proportions) copy to match the card. Note the O are different which could possible help to narrow it down. I think though it needs to be investigated whether this ran in the SF paper on this date ?
this is a fascinating line of investigation for two reasons – 1) it wouldn’t surprise me if law enforcement has not gone down this rabbit hole, simply because the ability to quickly search hundreds of thousands of newspaper pages is a relatively recent invention and 2) i don’t think the sender of these cutout cards would have tried to obfuscate their source – there was no way to quickly search old newspapers so why would he care if the source was some local paper that could be tied to him? there’s no way (at the time) le would have figured that out.
i do not think there is likely to be a larger hidden meaning if the source of the "hate" line is an older paper. the real clue is, if we can determine that it was only published in a handful of random papers, he was someone with access to one of those specific papers. that could tie him to another location.
