Could "My name is –" be a reference to the game show To Tell The Truth? I have no evidence to support this other than the fact that the show was airing in syndication in 1970 when the letter was written, and each segment was introduced by three people saying "My name is…"
Here’s an example:
In my personal opinion, I think your idea that the phrase "My name is" was inspired by the the show to To Tell the Truth, is highly possible and plays to Z’s love of playing games. Great find.
Wondering if one of the names mentioned in the show fits the cipher.
Pretty sure this has been discussed here. Zodiac "suspect" Edward Wayne Edwards" was a participant on that show.

Interesting, Tahoe. He’s listed as "Eddie Edwards" auto mechanic in the online episode guide here: To Tell The Truth 0945. His episode aired in the 1971-1972 season.
The show filmed in NYC, so it’s unlikely Z was ever a contestant, but you never know.

It might be worth a try to plug some in. I haven’t located a complete list of contestants for the show, however, there are quite a few named on the below website. If there’s a name of interest that someone wants to check as a contestant, the webmaster seems like he might be willing to help.
