I know lots of people have guessed at what the ‘Red Phantom’ actually was, as referred to by Zodiac (a fish, wrestler, old book title, etc),but I just found one here in this 1973 article, that I have never heard of previously:

Called ‘The Red Phantom Rides Again’, some sort of musical piece performed by school bands if I am not mistaken. There are a couple youtube vids too for it. The music angle caught my attention, since there was the possibility of some Z victims being involved with school bands, etc, and the desktop poem desk source being the music room.
Anybody familiar with this? If it’s already posted, my apologies. Would be cool to know if any Vallejo area high schools (or Riverside for that matter)performed that song

Just happened to come across this doing some searching and yes, it was a jazz/rock song written by a Joseph Scianni in 1970 and played by numerous school bands and on some records through 1974 as far as I can find. It is all instrumental and actually quite good I thought when I listened. Below is the best version I could find of it on YT.
Can’t really find any other information on the song, but do find the Red Phantom thing quite a coincidence.
