Thanks Dave.

This letter remains one of the most fascinating clues in this entire case to me,and if this Albany letter was really from Z, it would provide invaluable clues.

Check out how both Z,and the Albany Author use 2 different types of Capital R, and they both seem to be close

So I’ve been looking at the Z letters over the past few days with the eye of a journalist (which I was for about a decade). I’ll write that up in another post. But what I’ll say here is that the writer of the Albany MC letter is an over-capitalizer. The writer capitalizes a lot of words that shouldn’t be capitalized. Z mostly was not an over-capitalizer. There are more random capitalized letters in this missive than there are in the whole Z series. And I’m not talking only about the sentences that are all-caps. So that’s my skeptical note.

Here it is, a 7/22/73 article, in which this Albany letter clearly is in response to

What newspaper was this article from?

Looks like double postage was used on the Albany card. Is that what you’re thinking? What jumps out to me is that, at least when that SF Chronicle envelope was photographed, the stamps were still intact. Makes me wonder if there might be recoverable DNA beneath them, if the stamps are still attached.

For sure Roosevelt stamps. The Zodiac symbol as a return address was mentioned in the papers…pretty sure I looked into this before considering I think the Pines card was a fake.

There is not much to go with, it could easily be faked by that time, with what was in the papers up to that point.

It is interested however, why would someone fake a Z letter from Albany? Considering we have a good suspect originally from that area, it’s worth keeping on the back burner.

That’s what I was seeing Tahoe, I couldn’t recall that fact ever being mentioned in the papers

Yeah, really weird that this letter would come from Albany of all places, where Darlene Ferrin, Jim Crabtree, and Gaik all had spent time

A couple People have asked in this thread why the ‘real Z’ would write this letter? Again, it’s in direct response to this article that ran around the country in various newspapers a couple weeks before the Albany letter was mailed. It came in 1973 during Zodiac’s writing hiatus in CA. Could he have moved to Albany NY during that time, was he just visiting, working there?….before moving back to CA? Maybe he had roots there back when Crabtree,Ferrin, and Gaikowski were there…maybe as a news Employee?

Perfect correlation..was the Albany Times the only that assumed Z to be either dead or in hospital? Who were the ‘Zodiac-watchers’ they had referred to? And why Albany, obviously Z had read exactly this article from that particular Albany newspaper..imo he would not have answered to it if being in SF or only occasionally there..assuming that Z had stayed only a few days in Albany then it would have been highly accidential that the article was published during his stay in Albany. If the letter is authentic, Z most likely was living there reading the newspaper on a daily basis..
