The prime Suspect in this case was a guy who went by ‘SAM ROPER’. That was not his real name. His real name was Edward Nelson Cole.

I have some interesting info on him. I also got it from an inside source, that police believe he murdered Cindy and buried her in some sort of underground piping. At the time of her murder, Cole was working in southern CA, and his job was burying pipe after they were laid in the ground. They do NOT expect she will ever be found. Sad to hear. Also very strangely, police said that they "lost track" of him. I didn’t, I know where he is.

Edward Cole Sr., 68, of 206 East Ave., East Syracuse died July 19. Mr. Cole had lived in East Syracuse 40 years, and had been an engineer for the New York Central Railroad until he retired. There’s no way that it is a coincidence, that his alias was SAM ROPER, and a Sam Roper was born on his same date of birth. Question is, how did Cole come to steal this man’s ID, and what were the details sorrounding this? I spoke to a ew people regarding Cole, and it is pretty clear, he was NOT a nice guy,and had some issues. He was a deadbeat Father, and a confirmed criminal. The Police have been mad aware of this info.

How did the police "lose track" of him, yet I found him so easy???? That’s pretty scary, makes me understand why the Z case is still unsolved

Bumping this thread. Long linked to Zodiac, due to the car trouble ruse,I think the more likely perp was Edward Nelson Cole, AKA Sam Roper. Wonder if he could be a Suspect in the Bates murder?

And Cindy does remind me a lot of Cheri. The method of trapping/luring her was similar to CJB as well. Maybe he murdered Cheri? Anything to put him in Riverside during the Bates crime?

Supposedly, Cole was working with His Brother, James H. Cole in southern CA in 1970. His Brother, James H. Cole died in Polk City FL in 2004.

I know a Serial Killer from Riverside County was around 16 or so when Cheri was killed. He was caught many years after all of his murders committed primarily in the 80’s. He actually cooked a victims breast meat into the county chili cook off which reminds me of the CJB letter mentioning cutting of women’s parts and leaving them around Riverside on display. He stabbed and strangled his victims like Cheri was stabbed and strangled. They found he murdered at least 12 women, but may be responsible for up to 22 women.

That’s a possible good SoCal connection to the UCLA stabbing victim in 1970 in addition to Cindy. Hm.

Edit: just realized the description of the assailant at the UCLA murder is very different from the description of Cindy’s murderer. I’ve always thought whoever killed Cindy also killed Robin Graham (and maybe Christine Eastin). Sounds almost like Bundy if it wasn’t Cole.

And yes the fact they "lost track" of this Cole fellow – it just gets at my last nerve.
