As far as I know, she was found: Remains were found in a ravine off Morgan Territory Road, south of Clayton, close to Mount Diablo / Walnut Creek. She was found nude, cause of death unknown. Somewhat one year later.

Guess those were the crimes of Philipp Joseph Hughes. He was convicted for Lisa Dickinson (Beery?), Letitia Fagot and Maureen Field. The bastard is sitting in hell:

Body of Girl Tentatively Identified

The body of a young woman found last week in a
culvert at the foot of Mount Diablo was tentatively
identified as that of 19-year-old Maureen Patricia
Field of Moraga, who had been missing since November
14.

The Contra Costa county sheriff’s office said the
woman was "apparently a victim of foul play."

Tentative identification was made through x-rays.

The body was found last Thursday afternoon in a
culvert off Morgan Territory road, just east of the
little community of Clayton.

Miss Field lived with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph A. Field of 268 Scofield drive, Moraga.

On December 8, her family reported receiving a
phone call from a man who said, "I’m calling about
your daughter. She is dead. I killed Her."

Employees of the K-Mart where Miss Field was
employed as a clerk said she told them a man with
black hair and mustache had been pestering her at the
store for a date.

They also said Miss Field often hitched rides
from the Pleasant Hill Store to her home.

‘Very Similar’ Slayings of Contra Costa
Girls

An investigation has shown "many similarities"
in the murders of two teenage girls in Contra Costa
county, a sheriff’s captain said yesterday.

But it appeared that the two slayings have no
relation to the murder spree in Santa Cruz county
which has claimed as many as six young female victims.

Captain Harry Derum said there were distinct
similarities in the murders of Maureen Field, 19, and
Cosette Ellison, 15, both of Moraga.

Miss Ellison disappeared March 3, 1970, after
getting off a school bus in front of her Canyon road
home. Her body was found 13 months later in the
Mount Diablo foothills south of Clayton.

The body of Miss Field, who disappeared Nov 14,
1972, was found last week in a culvert at the foot of
Mount Diablo. She was last seen outside a Pleasant
Hill discount store where she worked as a clerk.

A Contra Costa Sheriff’s spokesman said last
night that investigators "don’t believe there is any
connection" between the two murders and the rash of
slayings in Santa Cruz county.

Last night I was watching Paul Holes talking about Cossette’s case on CrimeCon. He brought tears to my eyes when he became choked up talking about Cossette’s case. Her case is extremely important for him to solve. ( Morf and Drew were also there!) The articles about where her body was found, mentioned a culvert as being the same culvert Maureen Fields body was found.

According to Paul Holes Cossette’s body was found in a "creek" bed. I am guessing a dry creekbed? Although she was found nude which is consistent with a rape victim, the only DNA found was a tiny streak of blood on her fingernail. Does that mean she was not raped? This is important to know because if she was not raped, there is a possibility that Zodiac was her abductor/ killer.
Paul mentioned that the killer did something to her clothes which were disturbing. I am thinking he cut them perhaps? That reminds me of the bathing suit Linda Edwards had on and some clothes of mine which were cut with scissors back in the 70’s and 80s ( It was done twice to my clothes at different times ) The DNA was not a match to Phillip Hughes who was a suspect in Cossette’s case.
I wonder if that DNA was entered into the database? Or compared to what they have for the gloves found in Paul Stines cab?
The tech Pam Hoffsass has never answered me on the question I asked her in an email, about the DNA inside of those gloves! I would like to know if it was ever compared to the DNA they had for Zodiac?

I assume that you haven’t have seen the suspect sketch in the Cosette case ? I suppose without the hat possibly but who knows.

Sounds like your friend and wife had a lucky escape, It certainly brings home the amount of bad things that were going on around your area at the time.

I confuse a lot of people. We were talking about "serial killers". But being that we are on the Cosette Ellison thread, I was pointing in the direction of a serial killer that I believe could be responsible for Cosette’s abduction and murder.

The composite drawing like so many is a "perception" of what a witness recalled and not an actual picture. There have been tests to prove witnesses are not always reliable. For instance, put five people in a room and show them someone for a few seconds. Each witness will see someone unlike what the other witnesses saw.

Who was the witness? I tend to believe the bus driver seeing a truck that he thought was suspicious. Could the killer himself give a false witness statement to throw the police off of his trail, if he thought the bus driver saw him? That is not unheard of!
