Just a possibility here….this is the ONLY info I have been able to find on them and it was done in a home, but it is only an hour from Riverside and close to the time of CJB. From Pasadena Indepenent Dec 5 1966 and murder took place Sunday Dec.4 1966. While there is nothing else to go on for me, other than these two being stabbed and it being a couple, I just thought it may be relevant, though I am not sure I could really think of these two as possible victims.

I recently read the "smoking gun" suspect that was based on his location during the confirmed Z crimes and Cheri Jo and he grew up in Rosemead. It would make sense that he could have been in Rosemead over the weekend since this did take place on the weekend or maybe for Christmas break. Not that there is any real evidence he could he Z but there are some interesting circumstances with him.

I looked through three different newspaper archives and did a Google search and did not find any more articles on the murder of this couple either. That’s pretty strange. I did find, however that the woman’s name was slightly wrong. But even with a correct spelling I didn’t find any more articles.

Seagull- I tried to find more info as well and the only link that comes up is to this site. It’s very strange.

Just a guess, but I am thinking the reason there is very little detail anywhere on this is due to either;

1. It’s an open investigation
2. There is very little to no evidence (look at the year it was committed, not exactly during the best CSI times)

or a combination of both.

Being that it seems the police were treating this as a stranger to stranger crime (hence no suspects) I am guessing they had nothing to go on at the time.

This is such a catch 22, Zodiac did say he had a hell of a lot more activity down there, but that could also have been a misdirect to get the cops off his trail at the time.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe it was determined to be a murder suicide after the autopsy was completed as was originally thought. Thus there was no compelling reason for there to be more articles about the deaths. The only way to find out if that scenario is true would be to send for both death certificates and see if one of them has suicide as a cause of death. I’m pretty sure that LA County charges $21 for each death certificate so it would be a pricey option considering that these deaths did not get any press except for the initial article.
