Obvious things that stand out:

1) He’s a man with a limp.
2) Geographic location fits in if you believe Zodiac is responsible for CJB killing.
3) Walker had her car disabled, and was given a ride.
4) Age fits well with Z, and height is close enough in range. Weight is off, though it’s possible Z gained weight in the years between ’64 and ’68.

Not bad. Cant say i have ever heard of it. Nice digging. Could be an early Z. I see him committing the swindles murder in 1963 so maybe so.

Geeze…another article telling a sadistic killer where a friend lives. :x

The limp certainly brings to mind Zodiac, all because of Fouke’s "shuffling lope" comment…but I don’t think that meant a "limp". And, if Zodiac had some sort of walking impediment, would he be hiking up and down hillsides?

This doesn’t appear to me to be a murder done by the man who called himself Zodiac…either before or after. Especially if she was raped.

It is a good find, but doesn’t jibe as Zodiac to me. I would like to know if there are any future articles and if her killer was ever found.

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

Plus Z was never confirmed to go into somebody’s House. Was the raped confirmed in this case?

Z never used strangulation (at least in his confirmed murders).

Not from these articles, no.

Fits as previously mentioned, however…..never written about in Z letters, can’t use it without taunts written.

Horribly tragic crime, getting ride from stranger….

This motorist with the limp could be completely innocent of this murder. Why would this girl who sounds very responsible allow a stranger into her home? Sounds like she accepted the ride as the police ok’d it or were at least there on the scene and she felt safe enough to go with him.

Sounds like she had plans for Thanksgiving with friends so can’t imagine why she’d let a stranger in unless he said something like he had an important call to make and she let him use her phone in exchange for his kindness in giving her a ride.

There were no cell phones in those days.

I found another LA Times article with a composite drawing of the man with a limp. It’s not a very good copy of the drawing. However there is more info in this article that leads me to believe that Joyce may have known her attacker. Her body was covered with a bedspread when found. Usually the only time a killer does that is when they know their victim. It also sounds like she had been drinking on the night of her murder, she was in a minor accident which is apparently how she came in contact with the limping man. Alcohol clouds judgement, had she been sober she may not have accepted a ride with a stranger.

The article also says she told her father of a job opportunity in France which she was pretty excited about. Perhaps she had been dating someone in the LA area who did not want her to go to France so they killed her to stop her from going???

2007 Fouke interview:

"You could say he sort of looked down. Perhaps this lumbering gait, stumbling along like a semi-limp, might have come up in my mind because he was putting his head down when he spotted the police car."

Hard to see the composite detail but there is definitely a "widow’s peak," or at least an angular receding hairline.

Brightened the composite image. The microfiche scan is very low resolution, hard to improve it very much.
