Victim: Jane Doe #22
ID’ed as: Linda Darlene Maxwell, age 26
Race: white

POB: Arizona
Father: Orvel Ivez (orig. from Oklahoma)
Mother: Lila Mae Allen (orig. from Texas)

"Darlene Maxwell (age 28) (TF note: she was actually only 26):
Tied at the neck, wrists, and ankles with a rope.
Gagged with her own underwear,
strangled and left in an industrial area of San Francisco
."

My reason to present this murder is:

The fact that Linda Darlene Maxwell was murdered in San Francisco May 7th, 1974

AND

The Zodiac Killer sent a letter postmarked May 8th, 1974, the day after this murder (might actually have postet it the 7th the same day og the murder.
This Zodiac letter was postmarked somewere in Alameda County.

I need help to find:

Who and/or what company, in 1974 +/- 1 year, was listed to the address 244 Napoleon St, SF,CA were the victim was found?

I found most info here:

Thanks a lot Sandy :)

The Linda Darlene Maxwell murderer’s MO seem to mirror some of the "santa rosa hitchhiker murderer" MO.

Was the "santa rosa hitchhiker murderer" the Zodiac killer ?

Well we don’t know…yet…

TF I looked in the 1973 and 74 SF City directories for Linda Maxwell, the name that I did find was Darlene Maxwell , no job listed. That address was 34 Jules Ave in 1973 and 74 books.
The address 244 Napoleon st was Bay "Shore" machinery & pipe co.it seems it was connected to Domar Pacific Inc "first aid" equipment, Next to that business at 222 Napoleon st was Carpenter Rigging and supply co Inc, at number 200 was San Francisco warehouse co. Number 180 was "US Postal service". There were several vacant buildings on that block. Napoleon st is just south of Army st.

I always thought that Army st was in Daly city?

My suspect sent me a murder map that showed he killed 7 in SF and two in Daly city, there are over 70 murders on the map he left for me.

I looked at names that lived near the Jules Ave address for any known suspects, there weren’t any that I recognize. I will check the map to see if Napoleon st was actually Daly city or not.

TF the area is Bay view Hunters Point for the address 244 Napoleon st . That is only 4.7 miles from the address I found for a Darlene Maxwell at 34 Jules Ave.

Wrong profile though, it sounds like.

Mike Rodelli’s book has an excellent section on this.

I am not sure what you mean by wrong profile? Please explain why you think this, instead of me having to read a book on someones ideas or theories?

Sandy I don’t want to spoil the book for you, but a substantial section is devoted to an evaluation by an elite forensic profiler.

According to the profile, Z was a ‘Power-Assertive’ killer, rather than an ‘Anger-Excitation’ one.

It is laughable, in retrospect, that a political cartoonist (Graysmith) apparently tried to draw his own profiling conclusions, since this would be getting in way over his head.

I know the elite profiler that you are referring to his name is David, I sat at the same table with him years ago, very handsome nice man. But that was his opinion of what he thought the Zodiac was all about, that still doesn’t make it a fact. To get a good profile on someone you need to meet the person and talk for a very long time to get a more accurate profile in my opinion. I have read Mike’s book, it was very well done. It has been several years sense I read it.

I did read what David had to say, I disagreed with some and some of it I agreed totally.
All David had to go by were the letters that Zodiac wrote, Zodiac was not a truthful person ,so a lot of what he said was hog wash.
Based on that alone ,it would be very hard to get an accurate profile. I think Zodiac was both power assertive and had anger -excitation. That doesn’t make either of us right or wrong. We won’t know until Zodiac is caught.

I think that Graysmith knew the case and Zodiac better than most people, so I can’t laugh at his profiling.
I believe that he actually saved my live, so I am indebted to him for that.

Sandy, wrong profiler. You need to read the book.

I don’t have another inch in my home for another Zodiac book. I do have Mike Kelleher’s book which was every well done and David did a good job with most of his profiling.
Experts are people, people make mistakes. 50 percent of them graduate at the bottom of their class, like the handwriting experts who disagreed with each other all the time. I have read what some profilers had to say about Zodiac and feel the same way about them as I do the handwriting experts. It boils down to their opinion, until they have a face to face talk with Zodiac, I really do not think it can be an accurate assessment.

Sandy, don’t worry, my sense is you’re not alone, that many other amateurs don’t want to read the Rodelli book either, because it makes too much sense in shooting down their preconceptions.

Still hard to wrap my head around Graysmith not speaking to the Robbins kids or Fouke.
