Ok as this seems to be a hot topic at the moment here goes:-

Murdered at the Tahitian Apartments, 1 block from Hakari. By line of sight it was only across Glendale Ave, over an open field. It could be seen from Markston Apartements.
Court Reporter for Juvenile court Judge Robert W Role in Sacramento, engaged to Francis Salami, due to be married in November. Very similar in appearance to Hakari, Size, Weight and hair colour. Investigators also noticed both had a brooding upper lip and both were engaged. She also would have been stalked for some time prior.

The Killer jumped a fence, climbed up a gas metre and onto her second story balcony in order to get in. She had not fought back. She had been stabbed over 30 times and her throat had been cut. Found in her underwear, some of her clothes beneath her. Also not sexually assaulted.

Sketch of suspect drawn after neighbours reported a man prowling the area. 5,9”, 170 pounds, about 25 years old with a brown “Glen Campbell” hair cut.
The killer had used tape on his finger tips, perhaps to use knife . A few of these tape tips were found at the scene either on balcony or on the ground. A shoe print was also found at the scene.

Autopsy Report

Subject in Bedroom south side of the apartment, (1 Bedded Apartment). Lying face down on floor, at northwest corner of the bed, Head to the Southwest, on left side of double bed. Face was “buried” in a pillow, taken from northwest of bed. Pillow had been cut & stuffing coming out. Wearing only white panties, he clothing was by and partially under her feet. Consisted of blue and white stripped blouse, blue denim (Cut Off) jeans, blue sweater with red & white trim, and dark blue shoes. One shoe between feet, other (right shoe) by her right knee. Green print blouse and pair of white socks at northeast corner of bed.
About 12” to North of subjects right elbow was what believed at first to be a “bloody band aid” but later turned out to be masking tape with blood on it, which apparently had come from somebody’s finger. There was a similar piece of tape located on the patio balcony at the south of the subject bedroom that is reached by going out of the subjects sliding glass doors.
The bed was disarranged with the sheet, a white and pink blanket and white bedspread, has been pulled to the southeast corner of the bed. The patio door was open about 18 inches with the drapes pulled shut over the opening.
The subject was lying with her arms flexed at the elbows, with both hands at shoulder level and with both hands out of sight under her chest. The right hand later proved to be in a normal outstretched position but the left was partially clasped with only the index finger outstretched pointing towards the base of the throat. There was a large pool of blood under the subjects head and upper body that had apparently expanded to the northwest corner of the bed. It apparently had soaked into the carpet and padding under the carpet. There were three “splattered” type areas of blood on the bedroom door nearby. Blood was also on the drapes of the patio door leading to the outside. There were noted blood spots on the east end of the patio balcony. One drop of blood was noted on a shelf inside a home made style desk-shelf combination. The Patio-Balcony has no exterior exit and is approximately 15 feet from the ground. This has a wall around it approximately four feet high. It has a 2 by 8 beam covering the top of it. On the south side of the balcony-patio was noted four apparently bloody marks in the form of a partial handprint. It appeared as if somebody had attacked and then vaulted off of the balcony onto the floor below. Scuffed marks were observed on the ground under the balcony as if the assailant landed there.
The subject had multiple injuries about the lower face and neck that were apparently caused by a very sharp knife. The back of the neck was completely opened by a laceration across the entire back. There was a deep laceration on the left side of the left leg just inferlor to the knee

Coroners Report
Subject is a county employee, who has been assigned to work in the public defenders office and has recently been working in the Juvenile Court. Engaged to be married to Francis N Salamy of Sacramento County Public Defenders Office. She spent most of the day of October 25, 1970 with Mr Salamy, They went to Grass Valley, California to visit with her family. They returned to Sacramento an went to the subjects apartment. They later went out for diner and then returned to the apartment. They sepnt some time together and Mt Salamy left, he told offices that when he left she was asleep in bed. He locjked the front door behind hims. He stated that the subject had a pet cat that she let out of the Patio-Balcony, and said that she was in the habit of leaving the patio door open a slight distance to enable the cat to come and go. The Sheriff’s officer said that the subject had been discovered this date by Mr Jack Moncrief of 1830 Bell St Apt 3.
The undersigned deputy interviewed Mr Montcrief in his apartment. Also present were his wife and Linda Cox. He said that the subject was supposed to report for work at 9.00 am. As she was usually very prompt, some concern was expressed when she did not arrive. Another employee there, Mary Allen called the subjects sister, Linda Cox at her place of employment to ask about the subject. The sister did not know about the subject but called her neighbour and friend Mr Moncrief. He went to the apartment and knocked on the door but received no answer. When he called to the subject and still received no answer, he went to the managers apartment and got the manager to go with him to check the apartment. The manager opened the door form him and lefty. He entered the apartment and found the subject as above described and went to the managers apartment. He asked the manager to call the Sheriff’s department. This was done. A rescue unit from Arden Fire department responded to the scene also. The fire chief checked the subject but discovered very quickly that the subject was deceased. Information was given that the fire chief moved the subject slightly but when he discovered the death he left her alone.
Sheriff’s officers canvassed the area and found witnesses that advised that they had heard screams from the general direction of the apartment at about 02.30am.
The reporting deputies in their general observation noted hat the subject was not a very good housekeeper, as the floor was quite dirty and unwashed dishes were in the kitchen sink and one empty wine glass and a partly full bottle of Chablis wine was on an end table in the living room.
October 28, 1970 15.20 hours
Deputies Hrabek and Smal met Sheriff’s officers Ravenscroft and Dyer and Channel 3 Tv Personnel at the subjects residence where news photos were taken. 8 Keys on ring were obtained from Inspector Ravenscroft which where property of Subject. Also obtained at the scene was a prescription of 44 Librium capsules 10mg.
November 20, 1970
Summary of Facts to date
This subject was discovered deceased in her apartment October 26, 1970 by her landlord and a neighbour after she did not show up for work. The investigation is continuing at the present date by the Sacramento County Sheriffs department. The autops surgeon was only able to narrow the time of death down to a time somewhere between 6-12 hours prior to 11.40. October 26, 1970 The subject had been slain by an as yet unknown assailant with an apparently very sharp knife. Apparently the assailant had entered her apartment via a balcony off the bedroom and was able to gain entrance easily to the subjects apartment because she had left the door slight open so that her cat could come and go.

To summise, the killer entered and left by the Balcony. The climb was relatively easy and entrance to the appartment was also easy. Masking tape with blood was found at the scene (which a DNA profile was attained), a partial finger print was found on the balcony and a shoe imprint was found. The killing was VERY similar to CJB, especially the layout of the body. No sexual assualt and not a robbery. Police think she had been stalked for a while

Here’s a picture of Glen Campbell from 1969 for reference. Very similar to the man seen at LB IMO.

Any description of the type of weapon? Length of blade, etc.?

Thank you Cragle for all information and pictures! The 5th picture down from the top , looks like a wood railing, I believe I can see what looks like a Z in blood? Almost as if the killer tried to write the word Zodiac and at the very end to the right of that but small, looks like a circle with a cross through it? ( I always look for Z’s and his logo)
I am glad that you have shown the shoe prints, not sure if I am reading it correctly? Is that a size 10 shoe?

Has anyone looked at where her boyfriend was living, to see if a suspect could have been one of his neighbors? I do believe she was stalked for a while , before she was killed.

Oct 5th Zodiac wrote his pace wasn’t slower, then two days after Nancy was murdered, Zodiac wrote again. That is probably one of the reasons why Graysmith listed her as a possible Zodiac victim.

They are not the prints from wing walkers, they look more like the tennis shoe I mentioned. I can see the waffle pattern clearly and the lines toward the ball and toe of the shoe have lines that look close to that tennis shoe.

I agree it would be nice to have a clearer picture of the shoe prints, but we have to go with what we have for now.

DeAngelo wore tennis shoes while prowling, but you’re correct about this crime not fitting his MO.

Sandy I think the below is possibly what you are alluding to, I think it is the grain of the wood, but I can see where you get the idea from.
