Here is the obit of the butcher Bob Fisk, the man whos son found Nikki’s body.
Also, according to the news report, Bob Fisk had, and sold, knifes similar to the knife that Nikki was supposed to have been killed with.

The Nikki Benedict case has always fascinated me and left me wondering too if she was part of the Zodiac’s "Riverside Activity".

Riverside not really close to Poway. However, Poway is close to San Diego where the Swindles were killed, and their case is quite similar to the Domingos/Edwards case

Ah yes forgot she was in Poway. Had her location misunderstood for some reason. Hmmm Poway is pretty far. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

An article written by Nikki Benedict’s sister at the San Diego Union Tribune website for the 50th anniversary of Nikki’s murder.

Guest column: Still no answers 50 years after Poway murder

By MARIANNA BENEDICT-BACILLA
This article is related to: Homicide, Crime, Poway

Fifty years ago this week, Nikki Benedict’s life was stolen from her, at the tender age of 14 years. We still don’t have the answers we seek, still don’t know why or by whom she was murdered. Countless people from near and far have come forward with theories and suspicions, and continue to do so. Was it a neighbor? Was it a community member? Was it the Zodiac killer? As a family we have spent a lifetime learning how to coexist with this piece of our family and community history.

It’s not about accepting and forgiving. We’ve done this to the best of our ability. It’s not about letting go and moving on, it’s not about avoiding. It’s about continuing to love and learn from the fact the Nikki existed in our lives, even if only for a short time.

The essence of her life cannot just be about her murder. That is not “who” she was. She was a girl filled with hopes and dreams, just like any young girl of 14. She was a best friend, a big sister, little sister, a daughter and an active community member, concerned with the wellbeing and human rights of others in the wider world. Her model of compassion, kindness and courage continues to provide an inspiration, a beacon of hope, as we continue learning how to love in these extraordinary circumstances, honoring Nikki’s ever present memory in our hearts.

We will never give up hope that an answer will come, that we will finally learn who stole her life and left a catastrophic hole in our hearts that can never be filled. Having answers won’t change this, but at least it would relieve us of the massive burden of these questions.

On this 50th anniversary of Nikki’s murder we deeply honor her life and continue to hold out hope for compassionate answers.

Benedict-Bacilla is Nikki Benedict’s sister.

(Editor’s note: Benedict was stabbed to death on May 1, 1967, while walking home from a friend’s house around 6 p.m. in a field off Poway and Carriage roads. Anyone with information about the murder of Nikki Benedict, or the identity of her murderer, can contact the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Unit at 858-974-2321. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 888-580-8477, or send anonymous email or text messages to Crime Stoppers at sdcrimestoppers.com. I believe this may be who The Zodiac is referencing in The Confession letter

MAYBE SHE WILL BE THE BEAUTIFUL BLOND THAT BABYSITS NEAR THE LITTLE STORE AND WALKS DOWN THE DARK ALLEY EACH NIGHT ABOUT SEVEN

Here is a more detailed video interview with her mother right after Nikki was murdered:

I see no relation to the Zodiac case.

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

That’s really sad, poor woman. I Just see coincidences in The Confession letter where he says he’s stalking your girls now. The blonde, walking home near the little store each night at about 7. Not a dark alley where she was found, but haven’t seen the whole route.

I do believe The Confession letter and Bates murder are the work of The Zodiac

Just read the police actually had a sketch of someone stalking her and her friend and considered Zodiac a prime suspect.

Her murder was the day after the Bates had to die letters were sent.

The killer of Bates (at the time) might have been considered a prime suspect…but not "Zodiac".

If it were the person who was "stalking" the girls, it wasn’t (apparently) Cheri’s killer, if he had brown hair.

Later on, when Zodiac came to be…he was every murder victims’ suspect.

Wasn’t it a brown hair they supposedly had from Cheri Jo’s fingernails?

Yes…I stand corrected. It was brown…blond was on my mind for some reason.

I guess when I see Nikki, I see a little girl and don’t think she fits the bill of a Zodiac victim.
