I know what you mean – I tend to see Z as primarily a killer of older university age students. Having said that, there was only a couple of years between Nikki and Betty Lou and if Bates was a Z victim then she was a similar age to Betty Lou. Also, whilst it might have been a load of bull, he did also mention about shooting at school kids so who knows what he was capable of.

I think Zodiac just saw a couple out late at night on LHR. He would have had not idea how young she was (not that it would have mattered)…and that seems different to me than a 14 year old who looks so very young, walking alone.

The threat about school kids, I think, was just a little jab at the kids mentioned in the paper the day after Stine. Maybe sort of a "keep you mouth shut" kind of reply, but he also says he’d never do that…for some reason, I believe(d) him.
