Not that I know of? I thought about her on Sept 27th 2019 , as I drove past where her body was found. I wanted to see just how far it was from where my Honcho suspect was known to have worked at one time. I can’t prove he was working there on that date. But it was 3.2 miles from Lathrop construction at 4001 Park Rd Benicia.

He very well could have been working at Syar on Lake Herman rd at that time. Everything was right there for his bomb making! I had two brother in laws who worked there at that time. Their water trucks were used to wet down the Vallejo Race track for the Saturday night races.

I have a very strong feeling about her being a Zodiac victim! It is so like Zodiac to give a clue to it being him, by putting her car across three parking stalls at Blue Rock Springs ( Probably about where Darlene’s car was parked?) He likes to play "connect the dots" type of games.

Which Timex watch?
viewtopic.php?f=99&t=1551&hilit=+Timex

Shiri-Dine Bana 19 female San Francisco / Benicia Lived at 260 American Canyon Road no. 4, went to classes at Napa Community College. Shiri-dine was last seen when she reportedly left for classes at Napa Community College. Old Lake herman / Reservoir Road near Lake Herman Road, Benicia (Vallejo) The body was found lying on its stomach with its right arm tucked under the chest at Reservoir Road. Her car however, a light blue 1969 Ford Torino, was found parked across three parking stalls at Blue Rock Springs, away from Reservoir Road. No personal possessions of Shiri-Dine have been found, there also was no blood in her car indicating that she had been killed on site. Her eyeglasses were still on her head when she was found. The killer apparently drove her car back to the parking lot at Blue Rock Springs. She was stabbed about 25 times and was dead for about a week before they found her body. Her body was badly decomposed, she may have been strangled or killed by a blow on the head as there were neck and head injuries.
(what I got)

A second body was found nearby (Desert Sun, November 13, 1979, p. A3):

The victim was found at Lake Herman road……………has she been identified?

Most likely identified and somewhere in the police files..

QT, The mention about the Timex watch is on this thread. It was found by the victims mother in Sheri-Dine Bana’s car. But it was not seen by Benicia PD while they had it in storage , which is very odd. It seems the killer put the watch and the bloody knife in the car after the mother got the car back. Benicia PD said they didn’t want either item , because they spent enough money already on her case!!!!! Is it any wonder that Zodiac was not caught? That knife could have been used on Sept 27th 1969 as well as to kill Sheri-Dine Bana.
I found other murders after hers, but none that match up to the date in question or area. The next time I am at the library, I will check for any deaths in the Benicia/ Vallejo. I do seem to remember one on Lake Herman Rd , but don’t remember her name? I just checked Lyndon Lafferty’s book to see if he listed her, but didn’t find her.
Lyndon did tell her mother where to take the watch and knife to be checked. Not sure if she did that or not? That case has not been solved as of yet!

My suspect gave me his murder map and it shows three in Vallejo, two in Benicia, two Napa and two Lake B. Some could be where the victims were from or where the body were left, not sure? That murder map must have left for me before all of the Pittsburg murders took place. He drew seven in Antioch alone and only three in Pittsburg with a total of over 70 at that time!

There must be a way to find out what happened with the watch and the knife?

QT, here is the identity of the Nov. 13, 1979 murder victim. One article says three were arrested for the murder but does not name them. I was unable to find any more articles related to her murder. However, a Vallejo newspaper might have more information.

QT, I found another article, the victim’s first name was spelled differently in this article. It names the suspect.

Very good find…who is Robert McLain and does he know the killer or was it himself? LH road, at least..both cases quite far away from each other, however. Nevertheless, good input.

OCT. 31, 1998 https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm … story.html

Ventura County prosecutors will not seek a second penalty trial for a convicted killer whose death sentence was overturned by a federal appeals court.

Robert Cruz McLain was sentenced to death in 1981 for raping and fatally shooting a young hitchhiker, Joni Donnell Kelley, and dumping her body in a trash can at a Santa Paula park. The crimes occurred in November 1979.

In summary, Robert Cruz McLain is a confirmed serial killer who was active in the same areas Zodiac struck – possibly including Lake Herman Road and Blue Rock Springs – with similar MO of using a firearm, excessive stabbing and stalking teenagers. Interesting.

McLain was born in January 1940. White, 5"11, brown hair. http://sexoffender.publicrecordreposito … mclain.pdf

McLain twice attempted prison escape and held a guard hostage. Background of head injuries, brain damage, suicide attempts, childhood abuse. https://cite.case.law/f3d/134/1383/#ref_footnote_2_1

February 1959, age 19, McLain is cited for reckless driving. He blames a kissing couple for the accident. Makes me think of motive for lovers’ lane attacks, especially if the accident caused any of his injuries.
