There have been some Zodiac-like attacks in other states over the years. Could Z have moved away to another state after he went silent, and continued to kill? Its certainly possible.
If anybody kows of Zodiac-like attacks on Lover’s Lanes, etc in other states, please post them here.

Here’s one from 1978 in MKartinsville, VA:

This one does sound a lot like Lake Herman or BRS.

Cant leave out Joan Webster. Of course then you would have to subscribe to the Penn-O’Hare theory.

I shouldn’t say that any of these are Zodiac Victims, merely Victims killed in Secluded Lover’s Lane type areas.

This one is the double murder of Brenda Lou Fraley Howard & Her Husband, Donald Ray Howard, 1962 in KY

Scary to think how often this sort of thing happened. (happens?)

…they may be dealing with one or more ersatz Zodiacs–other psychotics eager to get into the act, or perhaps even other murderers eager to lay their crimes at the real Zodiac’s doorstep. L.A. Times, 1969

Seems like an easy place to target. You gotta figure the people there are ‘busy’, and not paying attention. It’s dark, no witnesses. It’s actually amazing how many Lover’s lanes attacks you can find across the country.

Paula Oberbroeckling (18) disappeared on July 11, 1970, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her remains were found 4 months later by hikers. Police said the body was found draped around a steel pin in the ground, which in the past probably had been used as a power pole guy wire. Paula’s remains were in an advanced stage of decomposition. The skeleton was almost intact and there was no evidence on visual examination of traumatic injury. Paula’s wrists were tied behind her back. Her ankles were tied as well. Used were two types of flexible material: one appeared to be a plastic clothesline and the other a sort of cord.

The way she was murdered is very Zodiac-like.

A few minutes ago on a toilet not very far, far away….

I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids and so am familiar with Paula’s story. What I found unusual is that there were four other young women found murdered in and around Cedar Rapids within a year of when they found Paula’s body. Maureen Farley, Karen Streed, Judith Haecker and Valerie Klossowsky. None of these cases have been solved. Oddly enough, Maureen Farely’s body was found probably within a mile of where Paula’s body was found. And Karen Streed — whose body was found 30 miles away, lived within three blocks of Paula. Murderer’s MO seems to vary — from blunt force to shooting to strangulation — but it seems to be a highly inordinate number of unsolved cases from a small area in a roughly 18 month period. All of these cases are explored a bit more in depth at https://iowacoldcases.org/homicides-1970s/

…and, incidentally, all 5 were found near bodies of water.

Interesting. Cool chart, I’ve thought this myself.

Zodiac/Monster of Florence/Colonial PKWY killer

After getting the full scope of DeAngelo and the range in which Israel Keyes was able operate in, I don’t think anyone would bay an eye to know he was all three, however, I still think these were 3 different killers.
